The President supported Luther Strange, also, but Trump voters in Alabama didn’t.

That doesn’t mean they don’t like Trump—they do very much—including me—but sometimes someone is too high up to know what’s been going on down in the weeds.

I encouraged Bright to go Republican BEFORE he became Representative. He blew it off (because he was looking for BLACK votes—who just don’t make up anywhere near a majority, and he thought he could get them and the remaining old conservative democrats on his side. BAD calculation. But it did work—for only ONE term), and after winning in 2008, we replaced him, in 2010 with Roby, who, from her position in the Montgomery City Council, seemed very conservative.

She ran against TEA partiers. She has never been a fighter nor a conservative.

She knifed GOP winner Trump in the back when should have kept her mouth shut. The “Grab ‘em by the &%^&%^&” thing came out on a Friday—she set up a microphone to denounce him that Saturday morning. Remember, this was AFTER the convention. It was EITHER him or Clinton. It was too late. She should had kept her mouth shut. Trump didn’t even get a chance to defend himself at that time. She couldn’t wait a couple of days???

I said that moment, I will never vote for her again! I’m sticking to it.

Bright has a chance, and I’m going to give it to him. ONCE. If he doesn’t show conservatism he’ll be replaced in 20. There are LOTS of good conservatives here who can replace either of them. Right now it can’t be Roby. She’s done.

The first time I heard of Bright was when he defeated Mayor Folmar, so I didn’t have a good opinion of him at the time. I thought he was going to play the role David Vann did in Birmingham in the ‘70s when he defeated the last GOP Mayor, playing the squish-lib White panderer before handing off the office to a long string of corrupt Communist Blacks. I’m amazed given Montgomery’s demographics now that Mayor Strange can hold on.

Anyway, as I mentioned in a prior post, had Bright ran as a Republican back in 2008, he would not have likely prevailed in the primary. It was only the sour grapes of Harri-Anne Smith that allowed Bright to beat Jay Love. Presumably Love would’ve been a better Congressman than either Bright or Roby.

I wouldn’t be enthused about a choice between either Roby or Bright. As you pointed out, it’s not the first time Trump chose a, subpar, nominee to support. Voting for Pelosi seemed to trump siding with the Never Trumpers after that non-issue with “grabbing pussy” as a more grievous offense to him.

I’m not here to lobby you one way or the other, all I can say is you have to vote your conscience. Hey, I’d probably write in Jay Love or Terry Everett. ;-)

Alabama damn well should have listened to Trump on that score, I don't see how anyone could disagree after Moore blew it.
