Kate Spade has been found dead inside her Manhattan apartment.
The popular designer, who shot to fame with her line of eponymous purses, is believed to have committed suicide.
Spade, 55, left a note before taking her own life by hanging and was discovered by her housekeeper.
She is survived by her husband Andy, who is the brother of actor David Spade, and her 13-year-old daughter Frances. Kate was also the aunt of Rachel Brosnahan, the star of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.

So true.
How sad.
It is very sad, but I agree. The suicide of a parent (or a spouse) does enormous damage to the survivors.
They are also more likely to commit suicide themselves, btw.
New York, and fashion designer, I can maybe imagine the suicide note: “Goodbye cruel world, I can no longer live on a planet where Trump is President and the NRA still exists .”
Good lord——just last night I was doing a crossword puzzle and she was one of the clues.

"...Couch purchased Kate Spade two years ago for$2.4B..."
Very sad, and a 13 year old child left behind. Heartbreaking.

I did notice in recent pictures she looked heavier and her face appears bloated, which could be caused by anti depressants.
Prayers for those left behind.
Mick Jagger’s girlfriend L’Wren Scott was also a fashion designer who hanged herself at her home in New York. Author and heiress Jean Stein jumped from her New York apartment. These people must be severely depressed.
I set up that typo just for you.
Wow! I am glad the child did not find her mother!!!
Agree. Sounds like she (thankfully) planned it where the (poor) housekeeper would find her. Still, what if the housekeeper had taken ill, and the child came home to find her mother?
So sad.
Permanent solution to a temporary problem.
At a few times in my life, I thought about it because I had a couple of disasters where it looked like the game was over.
I kept on going and built a semblance of a normal life.
Very sad. Condolences to the family.
