Priestap's appearance comes as messages between Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page are drawing fresh scrutiny because they indicate Priestap went to London two weeks before the FBI officially opened its investigation into Russia meddling in the election. A congressional source questioned to Fox News whether the trip was connected.
There’s always a catch.
The timing of the testimony also speaks to the timing of the upcoming Inspector General report regarding the politicization of the DOJ and FBI surrounding the Clinton investigative outcomes. Some of the most significant releases have come while President Trump is outside of Washington DC; and with the G7 on June 8th – 9th in Canada; it would seem likely the IG report is to be made public anytime over the next 72 hours.
Again, a note of caution. Eight months ago -in advance of the sunlight now upon the FBI and DOJ- Trey Gowdy created the joint committee between Oversight and Judiciary. There is increased reason to believe Trey Gowdy is compromised and working on a self-driven-agenda to defend the institutions currently under review.
Remember, Gowdy opened a ridiculous investigation on the White House doctor, but refused to participate in an investigation of the Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Priorities. Recently Gowdy has been very public with his defense of Mueller, the corrupt FBI apparatus and the DOJ where he was a former U.S. prosecutor. Ergo, given his structured positioning – these closed door hearings might not generate the type of inquisitive and hard-lined questioning that many are hoping for. Again, just a precaution on expectations.
I understand completely.
But it is also important to know that felonies were committed completely apart from the unlawful spying (such as the leak of the transcript of the Admiral Flynn phone conversation with the Russian Ambassador) where the gears are already in motion for that.
Someone is going to get nailed for that, it is already out there. And that is just one. There are going to be criminal prosecutions, the machinery is already in motion on that.
Sadly, it will likely not be the scope of prosecutions it should be. You are right to warn people about expectations.
Trey Gowdy, Michael Horowitz, John Huber, Rod Rosenstein, Bill Priestap, Peter Strzok still employed, closed door hearings, the stonewalling of documents, a recused Jeff Sessions, an IG report that only deals with a 16 month long Clinton email investigation,...yes be wary folks.
The fix may be in.

But Sundance has been on this for several months now, asking why the guy who is dead-center in the middle of it all (Comey directly above, McCabe directly below), Priestad, is just going along doing his thing every day, without a care in the world.
Sundance’s conclusion is that he must be singing like a Canary.
In other words, he’ll just be LYING since that’s what Democrats do!
It will be like all the chats with Congress. Nothing will happen.

"I expect two things from this. First, they will try to use Priestap to get an idea what to expect from the IG’s report. What all did the IG discover, what direction did Horowitz take, what was he focused on? Second, when it becomes clear that Preistap was not one of the small group conspirators, but was in fact one of the whistleblowers, a white hat, I expect Gowdy to fall all over himself to get to the microphones to try to dirty up Preistap in advance of the IG’s report. We’ll see how much more Gowdy is willing to disgrace himself."

Just to clarify, you keep confusing General Michael Flynn and Admiral Mike Rogers. It was Admiral Rogers who met with President-elect Trump at Trump Tower on 17 November 2016, just 10 days after the election - and did so without informing Clapper or Obama. It was General Flynn who was interviewed by Strzok about meeting with a Russian official.
I know...it is driving me crazy. I have a major mental block with that.
