Donald Trump has announced the plans for the Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House to celebrate the Super Bowl victory is officially OFF ... and POTUS is making it seem like it was his decision.
Instead, Trump says he will still have the United States Marine Band and the United Army Chorus playing the national anthem at 1600 Pennsylvania ... while he stands proudly and watches.
The team was scheduled to visit on Tuesday ... without several key members from the team who opted out as a way to protest Trump's stance on the national anthem.
But Trump says the "smaller delegation" of players who accepted the invite are no longer coming because "the fans deserve better."
"The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow."
"They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our country."
"The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fan planning to attend the event deserve better."
"These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony-one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem."
"I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United Army Chorus to celebrate America."
I doubt any players will show up. That would create friction in the locker room, much worse than dishonoring your country.
Some of them did. Aside from that, your post was very intellectual and informative. Thank you...
No loss...
On a related note, scroll down to “What a dick” and pay special attention to why the event was being held...

I hope he receives some remedial “training”.
Isn’t it about time to start getting some report about ticket sales for the 2018 season? I know it might be a little early, but there must be some indication of how the future is turning out for the kneelers and their enablers.
no need to grease the light poles......
Not just sales, but ticket prices...
Hockey is more cool anyways.
Liars. The notice clearly says the Eagles did not want to come because they disagreed with their President. TMZ lives on lies.
A bucket of Stormy Daniel’s warm spit!
It is because of SJWs like Chris Long and Malcolm Jenkins.
Chris Long is the son of former football great Howie Long. Both Longs are Super Bowl champions.

The NFL is terminally ill. The current oligarchs who run the NFL are the inheritors of an institution bequeathed to them by past owners and players. By definition, you can only have on premier sports league for any given sport, where the best of the best in that sport compete against one another. When you have no competition, it’s easy to be a poor manager, because the situation limits the need to be accountable to the consumer. Just look at all the mismanagement we see in government. The NFL owners and their jr. business partners - the players - aren’t interested in, or are incapable of being responsive to the consumers.
Is it time to regulate major league sports? Is it time to regulate Facebook and Twitter? The same arguments could be made for all three, and were made over 100 years ago when Standard Oil was busted up.
While i wouldve welcomed the players who wanted to attend ( and show no disrespect for our countrys values), perhaps PDJT had contrary information At any event, hes made a statement for the good.
I wish the Patriots had won.
Tom Brady would have been honored to visit his friend Donald in the White House. Bob Kraft, too.
Good. Time to treat the NFL as the plague that it is.
Please folks. Stop watching and supporting the NFL. They do not deserve your money.

I feel sad for the patriots on the team who have to share the consequences with the ungrateful jerks
The NFL owners are incapable of being good stewards of the product because they have conflicted interests. What might be good for the game as a whole might be bad, financially, for any given owner. Take player discipline as an example. It might be a good policy to suspend a player without pay for a week if he refuses to stand for the National Anthem, but with free agency and the huge salaries paid to the players, if you piss them off, they can easily choose to go to another team. Why do you think owners, especially those with winning teams, are so hesitant to discipline their players? The NFL is structurally flawed.
