Nearly half of Bay Area residents want out, poll shows. The reason why is no surprise

The idea of a Bay Area "exodus" is no joke, and appears to be growing more vivid and real with each year.

A poll released Sunday by a local advocacy group showed that 46 percent of Bay Area residents surveyed said they want to move out of the area within the next few years. That number is up from 34 percent in 2016 and 40 percent last year in the same poll.

The survey was a joint effort by advocacy group Bay Area Council and public opinion data firm EMC Research. The poll involved 1,000 registered voters in the Bay Area.

The reason for the urge to leave might be pretty obvious, at least to anyone knowledgeable on California: It's just too expensive. Cost of living (45 percent) and housing prices (27 percent) were the main reasons cited among the 461 residents who said they want out.

The Governor is delusional, he didn’t think so.

That is a political answer. It’s the only one a “non-Trump” politician can give. Most of them are non-Trumps.

Moved to SF in 1999 with nothing. Leaving with seven figures in the bank. Not looking back (don’t want to end up like Lott’s wife.)

Good friend who is a California native like me bought a small house in Daly City 4 years ago for 754K. Just listed it last weekend for 1.2 and she is going to move to Colorado. She can’t get out fast enough.

Thats correct. Many of these people will just move onto some other place and repeat the same behavior and make the new place unlivable.

You are 100% correct.

They get the government they vote for.

The problem is when/(if) they leave, they vote for the exact types that caused them to leave in the first place.

The sad thing is in 20 years when San Francisco looks like Detroit they still won’t believe it was because of liberal policies.

Downtown Detroit is cleaner and nicer than San Francisco today. The neighborhoods are a different story, but the commercial area is more pleasant than SF's smelly streets now.

There should be some kind of ideological survey they have to pass before being allowed out. We do not want them coming to our states and voting for the same socialism that destroyed their former homes.

I am a bay area native. A beautiful place when I grew up. My parents left there for Texas and I went with them, stayed awhile, then went back. I’m back in Texas again, left six years ago. Too many people, traffic, too expensive including high taxes.
Is sad the liberals had to get such a beautiful place to ruin.

It amazing, sadly amazing, to see the streets of San Francisco.

The liberals who allow these situations to fester, tend to want a clean environment, support global warming etc.

They want a clean environment, but their liberalism blinds them to the toxic environment resulting from their being so liberal when it comes to homeless and drugs.

Sorry but no, that’s San Francisco not the Bay Area...

The Bay Area is just too expensive period. Has been for decades.

That’s the pattern:

The first couple years you’re starry-eyed with the amazing architecture and restaurants.

Some time passes and the parking tickets start to really bug you.

Some more time passes and you notice the bums, needles and POO POO a whole lot.

Some more time passes and then it gets so you don’t care if a Victorian-owning tech King-pin were to shovel ThaiCoconutLemongrassMintPeanutSoup into your mouth gratis all day in the SoMa —you just don’t care.

“JUST MAKE THE POO-POO GO AWAY...!”

San Francisco is just fine, it’s phalanxes of LIBERAL, FILTH-LOVING PEOPLE who f*ck it all up.

the first time I saw this map, I thought it was a joke. I thought it was someone’s bizarre sense of humor.

I don’t think I shock easily, but, was really shocked to learn that this is real life tracking of human excrement.
