Hmmm. Will he fly an F-35? Will he do a barrel roll? Will he do a fly by of RLH's mother ship? Is he relegated to being a flight instructor? What size lifts will be in his shoes? Was the first one that long ago? Holy shnikes! 1986! Will Kenny Loggins do a new theme song?

Will the then leading lady, Kelly McGillis still be there?

the plot is being kept under wrapsMichael B. Jordan stars as rapper and ambitious fighter pilot "Young Mav-Z" and his aircraft is decorated not only with his aviator call sign but with lyrics from his rap songs celebrating 'bitches' and 'hoes' and money earned from selling drugs.
Grizzled flight instructor Tom Cruise reprises his role as "Maverick" and takes "Young Mav-Z" under his wing as together they struggle against racism and Trump voters, culminating in the final scene in which "Young Mav-Z" takes to the air against Vladimir Putin himself, flying a top-secret new Russian jet that will require "Young Mav-Z" to muster all of his skills as rapper and fighter pilot...

I’m guessing Maverick has dumped Kelly McGillis’ character by this time?

I met the retired General-Aviator who was the technical consultant on Top Gun a couple weeks ago.
He does talking sessions on the Midway flight deck in San Diego.
A very cool guy!

Perhaps it will be a fleet of drones promoting Scientology?

So he was an O-3 in 1984-5. Would that make him at least a two-star by now? Maybe higher?

No more “mavericks” for me, thank you.

The teaser image for Top Gun: Maverick, which Cruise also posted on his Instagram page, featured the legend Feel the need, ... the need for Geritol!

He should be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog $hit out of Hong Kong in the new movie.
To: rktman
That would make his character about 60, way too old to be in a fighter cockpit, let alone have been in the Navy for 36 years.

To be fair, Tom “Viper” Skerritt was 53 years old in 1986 when the original movie came out.
