Cyprus will host a ceremony on June 8 to mark the start of construction work on what is being billed as Europe's largest casino with more than a hundred gambling tables and over a thousand slot machines. The casino will be located in Limassol and is set to start operating in 2021. In the meantime a temporary facility is set to operate until works are completed on the City of Dreams Mediterranean casino-resort. It is being built by Melco Resorts and Entertainment, one of the biggest developer, owner and operator of casino gaming and entertainment casino resort facilities in Asia. CEO Lawrence Ho told reporters during a news conference in Macau on Tuesday that the revenue generated by the casino, estimated to bring in an additional 300,000 tourists a year, is expected to generate four percent of Cyprus' GDP.

Theyd better make sure its built to withstand major quakes.
That may be why the developer is out of Asia, hardly anything falls over in, say, China. /sarc
Is Cyprus actually part of Europe? It’s closer to Asia Minor, Lebanon, Syria, etc. than it is to Greece.
The West builds casinos, coffee shops, and amusement parks.
I’ve been to Limassol. It’s nice. The Russian hookers looked like supermodels.
It is in Asia. Stupid Eew politicians.
What’s up with the “scare” / “irony” quotes around “largest casino”? Is it not really going to be the largest? or maybe it will be the largest but not really a casino? I could understand calling it “Eurpoe’s” largest casino as “Cyprus” is “closer” to “Asia”. Or maybe the headline “editor” just doesn’t know what he is doing.
I guess I'd rather go to a coffee shop than a steel mill. We give the Chinese little pictures of dead Presidents, which seems to amuse them, so that we can enjoy the decadent lifestyle here; mostly sans pollution.

It’s a sign that the claim is being made by in the press release, and wasn’t verified.
Sounds like the name of a medication. :^)
I like the heuristic of assigning islands to their nearest continent. Look up the “Wallace Line” - separates Asia from Australasia (as some British atlases call it).
The same heuristic puts the Greater Antilles in North America, but the Lesser Antilles in South America. Most atlases put all or nearly all the West Indies in North America. One atlas I saw put Trinidad and Tobago in South America, but that was all.
As I recall, Tahiti actually gets put in Antarctica unless you create an 8th continent between South America and Australasia which ends up consisting of a bunch of small islands in the South Pacific.
Some of the Greek islands end up in Asia.
