I do not trust Gowdy. He is lining himself up to get a federal judicial appointment, or a position within the FBI.
I've read that he already turned down the offer of a judgeship.
More than likely one of Brennan's crew has put the fear of god into his family: sending an envelope home with one of his kids, leaving a note on the kitchen table in the middle of the night, skewering the family pet on a fence post; the proverbial horse's head in the bed.
He certainly had been whacking the wicked witch of Chappaqua enough times during the Bengazi investigation and somebody convinced him being a representative or anywhere in government service wasn't a healthy occupation: his family would pay the price if he persisted.
He could have done a lot of good but he's a seriously changed person. Time to go home.
