The state that I hold my CC in requires you to show it to LEO if asked to present. I don’t think he could just say “I’ll not answer any questions”. But then again, if he retrieved his pistol from the car and it was legal to have that in his possession, then its a mute question.

I thought the first step would have to be for the cops to ask or otherwise know (ie you tell them at a stop) if you had a weapon on you (concealed) ... and then, once they knew you had a concealed weapon on your possession, to ask for your permit, no?

Otherwise, what ... cops could just walk up to anyone on the street and ask if they had a CC permit, without probable cause?

So if that’s true, then my point was if, after the shooting, they had no reason to believe he had his weapon concealed, then what would be their justification to ask to see a CC permit?
