Yes, he and the rest of the career politicians are deeply entrenched in the swamp. Our founding fathers never dreamed that members of Congress would be covered by the FERS retirement system and the AFGE union insurance. So,our damn Congress critters are actually Gov employees plus union members. Disgusting.
You’re right. Our Founders imagined people would, out of patriotism, be willing to spend a few years in the (litera) swamp. Then they would return to their farms and businesses.
That’s why DC was built in a swamp. It was supposed to be an unpleasant place to be so politicians weren’t tempted to stay too long.
Our Founders miscalculated the potential for greed and avarice. Otherwise, they would have included term limits.
