Rep. Diane Black, a Republican running for Tennessee governor, has introduced legislation that would let people and companies donate to the construction of a U.S.-Mexico border wall.
Her bill would create an account at the Treasury Department to take donations that would be used to fund President Trump's biggest campaign promise, after Congress failed to give him the $25 billion he requested in January.
"While Democrats block commonsense border security and put illegal immigrants before our families, we are going to put America first. Real immigration reform cannot be achieved without a secure border," Black said in a statement.
The Border Wall Trust Fund Act would allow money deposited in the Treasury fund to be used for "planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining a barrier along the international border," her press release stated.
"The most important job of the federal government is the safety and security of the American people, and if citizens in our country wish to contribute to this effort, they absolutely should be given the opportunity," she added. "Americans know that President Trump is committed to protecting our nation for future generations, and we are ready to stand with him to build...

No. I already pay for everything Democrats have wanted for the past 80 years. Time for them to pay up!
Why?
Mexico is going to pay for it.
1) When they put this into a trust fund, will it be treated like the Social Security Trust Fund?
2) Even if all the billionaires in the US (or Mexico) donated enough to fund the entire wall, the money couldn't be spent without it being appropriated by Congress. Article 1, Section 9 of the Constitution says: "No money shall be drawn from the treasury, but in consequence of appropriations made by law...". The problem now is that Congress won't appropriate the money. Even if there was a pile of money held by Treasury, Congress would still have to appropriate it.
If both of those can be addressed to my satisfaction, I will donate.
Yes, I’ve said all along they ought to crowd fund the darned thing. Hey, I’d buy a couple of “bricks” (or whatever) ... put my name on it too!
yes, I’d be willing to donate, just as long as they can guaranty that every cent will go to actual construction, not into the pockets of the fundraisers.
Yes! Darn crappy democrats & rinos congress!
“I already pay taxes, they can suck it.”
I came here to say this. They drop 25 billion like it’s nothing. A rounding error.
Trump should force Congress’ hands here. Get the funding (which is already law) or he’s not signing any budgets or continuing resolutions. Shut down the government if necessary.
Yes. Next Question.
I like it! A kind of line item veto for voters.
Cant take it from the ch7ck n nancy spending huh? Yeah, ill contribute right after dems fund obamacare.
There, I fixed it for you.......
I do it every pay day.
*bzzzt* WRONG!
POTUS has the ability to levy Tariffs under s/s 122 of the Trade Act of 1974.
Amazing how few FReepers keep up with current events.
Yes I would.
And who has to approve the monies for the wall?
Amazing how many FReepers who think they know it all really don't................
Oh a warning shot or two...might do it.
I can’t trust congress. My donation
would wind up gong to PP.
IDEA: Let Public support President Trump Agenda
Why not offer “Savings Bonds” to build the ‘Border Victim’ Wall?
The name of the victim of every illegal alien can be engraved. Students or adults can buy one stamp at a time or whole savings bond
at school, bank, post office or payroll savings plan of any corporation or on internet.
See site for info: https://www.treasurydirect.gov/
Just run a Wall lottery. Thing would be paid for in three years!
Yep - been paying taxes for over 50 years - won’t throw more money away so they can waste it.
