President Donald Trump wrote a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un saying that their planned summit next month in Singapore was cancelled.
The meeting, which would have marked the first face-to-face encounter between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader, was set for June 12 in the southeastern Asian island city state.
"Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting," Trump wrote in the letter, which was released Thursday morning.

The actual leaders don’t need to ever meet. Those details are carefully worked out by their representatives. The final “summit” is when the leaders basically meet to sign it.
The example was when Pompeo went. Do you think he talked about nothing but the where and when? Get real. The actual leaders sitting at a table is for show. Prime example, Obama never sat down with the Iranian leader.
Trump has lost nothing while Kim has released our people and destroyed his now useless nuclear test site. Keep the pressure on Kim and the Chinese with whom we are negotiating a trade deal.
