Rosenstein made the request after Trump official request.

IG has no authority to interview Anyone not currently in the DoJ. THis is Rosensteins way of letting Brennan, Clapper, Yates, etc skate free.

What is to investigate? They did. They paid money to do so. They continued on into the presidency once Trump was sworn in. They continue to this day. They have placed the former heads of the operation into high power positions at all the media outlets to control the narrative.
So what is there to investigate? These are out in the public facts.

I’ve never really been a fan of special counsels, even back in the Clinton days. I just think that they have too much power. However, after saying that, how can there not be a special counsel for this? We are talking about the DOJ/FBI investigating it’s own actions??? I mean this just screams special counsel. An investigative body cannot investigate itself IMO. The appearance of impropriety is just too great.

Rosenstein’s offer of an IG inspection is an insult and a sham.
Trump said he would make the formal request today, and my expectation is it will be for an actual inter-agency investigation.
Anything less and I will (again) smell a rat.

President Trump should fired Rod Rosenstein.
He is clearly working with the bad guys. The only reason he did this was to save himself from being fired.

How great. A body within the DOJ is going to see if they did anything wrong. That always works.

Lots of posters here are missing the big picture. They lose sight of the fact that Trump is president (Thank God) and is doing what he was elected to do where he can. Also the players like Comey or Brennan are unlikely to get more than a slap on the wrist if that. As for showing that there was approval of this operation by Lynch and Obama? Forget about it. They were protected from before the operation was conceived of.
What will most likely happen is a couple of flunkies will be charged with exceeding authority and falsifying documents for the CI investigation and FISA warrants. The sign-off on the investigation will be shown to be based on a tip from some Russian sources who will remain classified. The meme that Trump is tainted must remain at all cost and so it will. They will make sure it does.
