Thanks for reminding us what could\does happen when our military is unarmed.

He didn’t go back far enough.
By the time I got to RVN, we had to have a red wooden block in the magazine well of the M16, when we were on base.
It had a notch on it that sat between the bolt and the round chamber.
That solution must have been based on military intelligence as there was no solution for the 1911a1 or the Shotguns many carried.
and that solution was not applicable in the states...go figure.

we need to restore firearms training (and shooting sports) to our high schools!

This cat seems to assume that people go into the military knowing nothing about guns ammunition shooting and the like. Like somebody else said he should speak for himself but not the rest of us. He ought to watch the movie, Sergeant York.

I am not sure about other vets, but I have never walked out of a store with a weapon. I have walked out with many tools.
My guns and knives are tools, I am the weapon.
The problem is not the guns but the culture we have allowed to remove the testicles from boys and put them on girls.
So I guess the current vets are a product of that culture.
Also the problem is that young people today have very little knowledge of history or the constitution. It is such a sad thing that we have let happen to our country.

There is no gun culture. When you strip a kid of all reason for living with your insane nihilistic liberalism, and he becomes depressed, and you shove “antidepressants” into him, you cause the murders.
The chemicals make the body show external signs of being happy, while the person is actually unhappy. It is well known that the drugs lead to thoughts of suicide or violence!!!!! That is no f*cking antidepressant!

I swear, half this country is f*cking insane!

“Michael E. Diamond served as a military intelligence officer in the United States Army Reserve for seven years.”

No years given

MI in the reserve. Why should I believe anything this yob says?

It used to be that safe gun use and respect for firearms was a natural part of growing up in a family. Sadly, today guns are introduced in the worse possible way to our unsupervised youth through video games and on the silver screen. In this fictional, make believe world killing is glamorized and completely removed from reality, which later makes it much to easy to move from their make believe world into a real world where actions have grave consequences.

What a bunch of pure outhouse fillings.

Leftists have gotten very good at using their operatives in every segment to make it look like all of that segment agrees with their narrative. Bastards.

Are there some twisted leftist veterans? Unfortunately yes. I personally could never understand how any veteran could be a leftist. It’s like used motor oil and vinegar to be vet AND a leftist.

It just means freedom fighters across the country will have to unite to work harder to counter the propaganda. The gun-grabbing left has clearly mobilized to make a full-on assault on our civil rights. They can not be allowed to succeed.

“So it’s hard for me to fathom how easy it is for almost any civilian to walk out of a gun retailer carrying a new weapon without a clue about so many of these standards.”

What is hard for me to fathom is how a veteran of our military, who is presumably educated in the military as to what he is defending, cannot understand how a citizen is allowed to own a firearm or 10, at will, because he or she is a citizen. The citizens are the militia. This guy ought to know that, as well as the fact that without the militia, we would still be a British colony.

Shame on this veteran for not knowing the difference between his ass and his elbow.

And where military and law enforcement undergo extensive training on how to make the right shooting decision quickly while under extreme stress, civilians receive no such training, contributing to avoidable deaths arising from poor decisions and petty disputes.

About that, Diamond, you @$$hole, you somehow missed the studies that show that civilians who are involved in shootings are more likely than cops to make the right shoot / no shoot decision. And just how many "avoidable deaths" are we talking about here? 5 million? 70 million? 3?

I can make these kinds of nonsensical rhetorical points all day long, such as gun controllers are universally known to rape goats. Prove me wrong.

God I do hate these people.

I really resent military people thinking the civilians are dysfunctional and need to be subservient to so called functional military types

I have been too long in the army to believe this crap. Private Jacka$$ who would never be able to hold a civilian job and thus went in the military is all too real

More nonsense about infringing the right to keep and bear arms in order to accomplish NOTHING.

The shooter in Santa Fe didn't shoot himself in the foot. He didn't suffer from inability to hit what he was aiming at. No amount of training would have caused him to do anything other than what he did.

What was missing from the shooter's life was any appreciation for the value of other people's lives or even his own life.

This loser will now spend the rest of his life in prison (if not executed) and he probably didn't truly make a rational decision to do what he did. He acted out emotionally just as many progressives recommend. It's a formula for a lifetime of failure.

I haven't heard that this loser had had run ins with the law, but I would bet he was an undisciplined mess throughout his short life. I doubt very much that this was his first episode of acting out.

Some of us grew up with firearms and were trained by WW2 combat veterans on the safe use of firearms, how to clean and operated them and firearms safety. There was a day when all scouting camps had firearms training to reinforce proper use.

>> civilian gun culture is a dysfunctional mess

Perfectly describes the value of the 2nd Amendment.

Excluding hunters, enthusiasts, and the “aware”. every other citizen will likely be dysfunctional. However, they’ll have an advantage against the trespassing socialists that aim for unconditional surrender.

Used to be a Father taught his children what they needed to know about guns - my training began before my 5th birthday and was so ingrained that lessons learned more than 50 years ago are still front and center....

While being able to clean a gun is crucial to most of us, the handling of the weapon is the most important part - if one can't figure most of that out by himself he's too stupid to own a gun.

The guy is full of sh*t.

Former “Military Intelligence”... In other words a POG, REMF, Fobbit, etc. He’s someone who only went to the range once a year, and more than likely had his card pencil whipped.
