(AFP) — Prince Harry and his bride Meghan Markle will be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after their wedding on Saturday, Buckingham Palace announced just hours before the ceremony. “The Queen has today been pleased to confer a dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel,” it said in a statement.
“Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.”
A dukedom is the highest rank in the British peerage. It is traditional to give royal sons titles reflecting the three historic realms — England, Scotland and Ireland — that made up the United Kingdom.
Hours before his wedding in 2011, Prince William, Harry’s brother and best man, became the Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.
Sussex is a historic county on the southeast English coast, with a population of around 1.6 million. The name derives from the South Saxons. Its main city is the hip seaside resort city of Brighton.

Her last marriage lasted barely 2 years and one thing that stood out to me was when she was acting she complained she couldn’t get parts because she was biracial - casting agents telling her she was not white enough or black enough which to me reads like utter BS. Seems to me more likely she’s a race baiter and it’s only a matter of time before she pulls that BS on the prince, starts pulling the race card on him.
Just once, I’d love them to appoint the Duke of Earl.
Gosh, I don't know. Maybe it's an odd kind of exotic romance for both of them. Or maybe she's a real smart actress who realized there was the role of a lifetime and she's auditioned for it and got the part. She's 36. Why not have a few kids and play the part? Sure beats being an aging actress.

She is an attractive woman who succeeded in spite of having a boorish father. Her future as a Royal will be determined by how much of her independence she is willing to surrender to meet the Royal code of behavior.
Elizabeth’s children and grandchildren have several divorces - much like the rest of society. No-one seems to get married for life anymore.
