Last week the planted spy was a given ...

Not exactly. Last week, the story was that the FBI/CIA used a foreign asset (maybe Stefan Halper or Joseph Mifsud) to initiate contact with someone in the Trump campaign for the sole purpose of justifying a FISA warrant on the Trump campaign contact, and (by extension) the entire campaign.

Conservative media outlets jumped all over that and claimed that there was a "mole" in the campaign -- even though that was never established. Neither Halper nor Mifsud would be considered a "mole" by any stretch, since neither of them worked for the Trump campaign.

Now they're trying to cover their asses by admitting that there was never any evidence of an actual mole ... just someone who may have been an unwitting dupe (Carter Page and George Papadopoulos are two likely candidates).

Halper may not have been a mole, but it looks like he was essentially an agent provocateur.

So, Clapper saying on CNN, that it was a good idea for the FBI to plant a spy in Trump’s campaign, was what?
