My 2 cents conspiracy theory is that it is even worse than Trump imagines.

MY theory is that British Intelligence incensed over Trump Brexit statements was approached by someone from the Obama Administration to plan a British intelligence agency operation on the Trump campaign and to help the Obama Deep State create a sting operation between the two deep state operatives.

To me the Australian High Commissioner (Ambassador) and Steele connection fits better this way.

But it would not be absurd to think the FBI might have sent informants to speak to suspects in their counterintelligence investigation into whether anyone in the Trump orbit was working with Russia to interfere in the presidential election. In fact, it would have been accepted procedure for the FBI.

If they didn't do it when Adlai Stevenson ran against Ike, it wasn't "accepted procedure."
