RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - The dress code at Kickback Jacks has some customers a little upset.
The sign is bogus, said customer Zaena Graham. I think its a bunch of rubbish.
The sign posted inside its restaurant lists the dress code and behavior requirements. The list starts off prohibiting negative attitudes, offensive language, and any attire containing profanity.
In a family atmosphere other than just a sports bar, I think profanity should be restricted in any public place, said John Baucom, a customer.
The first part sounded OK, but it just got, to me, more discriminatory, said Laurie Washington, who was eating at the restaurant with her husband, Thomas Washington.
The dress code goes on to say no low-hanging pants or shorts, no plain white T-shirts, and no excessively baggy attire.
Laurie and Thomas Washington believe it has a racial undertone and is offensive to them.
Thats typically, younger African-American type attire, said Laurie Washington.
Baucom said not having the policy could be offensive to others.
The way they wear their pants and exposing certain parts of skin or whatever, I think that should be a managers discretion as far as offensive to other people, he said.

You’re right PR is PR (even if it is bad)
Frankly, their rules don’t seem to be the norm unless owned by liberals who set the rules and command that everyone adhere to each and every rule set forth or be banned from participating. What ever happened to “tie and jacket required” Or “no shirt and shoes; no service”. Simple and straightforward.
Frankly, never heard of them and no idea what they serve. With what was just seen, doubt they would ever be considered a first choice in any future decision made.
None of the whiners has ever complained about having to wear a coat and tie at The City club.
Amen.
Good point, there! LOL Mind here was thinking along Melania’s shoes (the same ones the press is so absorbed in talking about). NOT on a switchblade. Two minds, two sides of the fence. Thanks for the reminder.
and those with tattoos on their faces, necks, and the backs of their hands.
Tattoos in general are totally off-putting to me.
But those mentioned make physically ill.
Sounds good to me since so many black and liberal public organizations have a no whites allowed policy.
9th circuit to reverse in 3 2 1....
Plain white T-shirts are undergarments.
Really? Says who? Is a blue one or a black one okay. Why?
I’d frequent there if I lived in the area.
Also, should have mentioned no cell phone usage at the table. Go outside to make or take your call.
“Says who?”
Says Western Civilization and everyone who accepts it.
White never okay; colored and decorated okay sometimes.
Awesome!
“No cell phone use at the table.”
Only an moron would make that rule. Might as well close the place down.
No soup for you!
And no white anything before Easter!
“Says Western Civilization and everyone who accepts it.”
I must have missed that day in Western Civilization school. We had better go back in time and tell James Dean he is kicked out of ‘western civilization’. Almost no one wears t-shirts under their dress shirts anymore so you might as well band them entirely.
“I must have missed that day in Western Civilization school.”
Depending on when you went to school, they might have skipped it, along with a lot of other stuff.
“We had better go back in time and tell James Dean he is kicked out of western civilization.”
He was never in it. Rejection of Western Civilization was the whole point of James Dean, and his T-shirts.
I would say that a plain white t-shirt is preferable to the logo tees that a lot of people wear, with various offensive slogans and pictures on them.
Also, while I don’t actually have a white one, I have plain tees in a variety of colours - white is available - that definitely aren’t undershirts. Difficult to write rules that could differentiate between the two, though.
I would go with a restaurant that bars visible tattoos and earrings located anywhere other than in the ears. I might be the only guy eating there, it seems like.
Raycisss! expecting people to act like civilized humans is called racist.
