Republican Tim ONeal cracked the 4,000-vote threshold in Washington Countys 48th Legislative District, according to unofficial returns from the Washington County elections office, and declared victory.
ONeal continued to hold his lead with 4,534 votes to Democrat Clark Mitchell Jr.s 3,743. Libertarian Demo Agoris trailed with 135.

Since there are 31 Counties in the USA named Washington, I did the digging. This election was in Western PA.

Bucks County, PA, Democrats flipped House District 178. In 2016, Clinton lost this seat 50/47, which was already considered a strong showing for a Democrat there. Helen Tai (D) improved on that to beat Wendi Thomas (R) with 50.4%. #papolitics #hd178
Thank you for your efforts!

If Trump is solidifying his gains in PA, that is a HUGE DEAL for our side and his slim victory in 2016 may indeed have ‘legs’. And it makes sense - virtually every Republican who voted for Trump is happy with him and will vote for him again, and most of the ones who didn’t vote for him (the various shades of NeverTrumpers) are now, finally, seeing that he’s for real. All that’s left opposing Trump on our side is a very small number of Republicans who have serious mental issues. Likewise, the ‘independents’ are getting sick of the Stormy, Stormy, Russia, Russia crap...and inching his way (probably that’s where the movement was in this election), and the Dems...oh well, they simply have to be DEFEATED, once and for all.
Yep, parts of Washington County could be considered Pittsburgh exurbs.
The Twitter crowd purposefully ignores PVI as the bench mark and has been using Trumps 2016 presidential results as the benchmark.
There is a big problem with that. Presidential electorates are larger and different than the electorates of other elections. 130 million people vote in the Presidential election. Half of that might vote in a mid term.
Thats why the PVI was invented. It averages the results over multiple elections to give an index of how the district leans compared to the country as a whole.
PVIs are calculated by comparing a congressional district’s average Democratic or Republican Party share of the two-party presidential vote in the past two presidential elections to the national average share for those elections.
Yes, Trump won this District 50-47. That was a historic win. Remember Trump was the first Republican to carry PA since 1988.
HD 178 has a PVI of D+1. This is a different number than Trumps winning margin.
Jmilescoleman knows this, but he wants to paint his blue wave narrative. Notice he doesnt trumpet HD-48 either.
Check the legislative election results for HD-48 in years past. The Rats comfortably held it even in wave years. They dont want to talk about losing that seat because it shows how fast Western PA is trending right.
It’s important to understand this part of PA. There has been a steady influx of new residents into these areas, moving into McMansions and box-cutter townhomes that are wedged into any available acreage they can find. A large percentage of people moving in are fleeing from more urban areas, and they tend to lean liberal/democrat. There are some areas where “Hate Has No Home Here” signs have sprouted up like dandelions. Blue collar working folk are being priced and pushed out. It’s a bit discouraging, to be honest.
More good news, positive trend for @NRSC and @The_RGA in last nights PA turnout:
-GOP turnout up 200K from 2014 (82% increase)
-Comparatively, Dem vote down ~8K from 2014
-GOP closes vote gap w Dems from -350,690 to just -12,099
-Dem PA celebration appears Premature

I knew last nights elections didnt go as expected for democrats because theyre being ignored by CNN.
The Rats also went full retard and nominated a Bernie bot communist in Nebraskas second district.
I think that will hurt them in the general election there.
Thanks!
NE 2 was listed as Toss up or lean Republican for Bacon, but guess not now that Ashford lost to Kara Eastman. Bacon Solid win now?
Dems road to victory y was Ashford Democrat rematch with Bacon who narrowly defeated him in 2016.
She’s a raging leftist and didn’t have any of the establishment support. I can’t see how she could possibly do better than Ashford. Ashford could play pretend “moderate” in that district. She is campaigning on single payer healthcare and repealing the 2nd Amendment.

Democrats cannot count open seats and seat HRC carried until we see who wins the primary.
Thank you for your posts.
I don’t see Napster here celebrating, he must be pouting.... ;)
