At least 41 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces and 1,960 others were wounded after protesters converged on the razor wire fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel hours before the U.S. Embassy opened in Jerusalem.
Monday's march was meant to express anger over U.S. Embassy's inauguration. Tuesday is Nakba or Catastrophe Day, when Palestinians observe the 70th anniversary of Israels founding.
Moving the embassy from Tel Aviv breaks with decades of Washington policy and distances America from its allies.
The protest movement started not with a bullet or a bomb, but with a hashtag.
What if 200,000 demonstrators in a peaceful march broke into the barbed wire east of Gaza, wrote Ahmed Abu Artema in a Jan. 7 Facebook post.
What can a heavily-armed occupation do to those peaceful human waves? the 32-year-old Palestinian journalist asked.
Artema ended the post with #GreatMarchofReturn a slogan that quickly went viral and then, two months later, blossomed into reality.
A total of 90 have died and more than 11,200 others wounded since a maiden protest on March 30. Several hundred of the injured protesters were kids, according to Save the Children.
Human rights groups have faulted Israel for answering rudimentary weapons with live ammunition.
During the maiden demonstration on March 30, Israeli soldiers killed more than 20 protesters. Video footage showed several people being shot as they ran away.
The death toll jumped substantially on Monday.
No Israelis have been killed or injured.

This is what happens when you violently try to storm another countries

“At least 41 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces and 1,960 others were wounded...”
‘Peaceful Protestors’...just stormin’ the castle!
The Enemy Media strikes again...and always on the wrong side of History!
a Win-Win
Tuesday is Nakba or Catastrophe Day, when Palestinians observe the 70th anniversary of Israels founding.
Nakba...palestinian for “We were idiots!”.
“Human rights groups have faulted Israel for answering, ‘rudimentary weapons’ with live ammunition.”
Then tell the Palies to stop throwing bricks and they won’t get shot!
The protest movement started not with a bullet or a bomb, but with a hashtag.

[[Several hundred of the injured protesters were kids,]]
And who’s fault is that? Why in the hell would parents bring their kids to the fenceline? That is the pinnacle of irresponsibility- the palis should be arrested for child endangerment
Such fair and balanced reporting, indeed. Now we know what the “N”(azi) in NBC stands for.
Dear BBC,
A riot is not a “protest” anymore than is a church bombing.
But you’re probably in favor of those, too.

Ben
They were not killed, they committed suicide by rushing at men behind barricades with loaded and aimed weapons.
Once within a certain perimeter, they caused the triggered response. Literally.
Charging the ramparts only works in movie scenes. Otherwise it is pretty wasteful of resources.
Just hope when and if the Mexicans try something like this, we will respond in the same fashion. The Israeli’s understand that their border is sovereign. something we need to start doing ourselves. Mexico needs to understand what they are promoting is an act of war.
“Video footage showed several people being shot as they ran away.”
Well, that proves it as far as I’m concerned. I initially thought some of these dead and wounded head counts were BS .... but now, with video that can’t be staged, I’m absolutely convinced the casualty numbers being reported are true. /S
This is the last gasp of a dying movement. Once the protests subside (as they inevitably will) there will be more of the usual infighting among Pals. The only route to true peace is recognition of reality (Israel’s existence) and agreement to turn their swords into plowshares.
The embassy move “may” well break with decades of American POLICY but it should be noted (but not by NBC) that——
The embassy move HONORS decades of BROKEN American promises by Presidents from BOTH parties.
