Wow, neat! I’ve only seen a Bear Once and he was stealing apples from our tree. That one must have been hungry if he was at your back door, and out during the day. Or maybe sick. Poor thing.
I encountered Bears a couple of times in the Sierras. Once when I was going for a walk. I was going down a trail and he turned out of the forest, and we just stared at each other, probably both of us thinking that this can’t really be happening. The second time one discovered that our bird feeder held some yummy food. He was bashing it like a pinata against the window. And then he came back the second night and was staring through the French door. Luckily he didn’t come back. I read a lot about bears after that, and was grateful we didn’t have Grizzlies around. But black bears are pretty docile and pretty scared of us. As long as they don’t become predatory.
Its interesting living so close to wildlife but Im always aware that I cant let my guard down, especially in the spring when they have their young ones.
Hubby called Parks and Wildlife but theyre closed and its not an emergency (have no idea where the bear is now) so will call back on Monday.
The stories we hear are that most bears are afraid of people and run, but I dont take chances with them! Lol!
Hopefully hes already on his way to the wilderness.
:-)
I’m so thankful we are not having a repeat of last years Spring, a bear around every corner and eating our little neighbor goaties, NONE in sight this year.
