You know those stories that make you roll your eyes so far back in your head you think they might get stuck there?
This hot mess from POLITICO is one of those stories:
From POLITICO (sorry!):
Maybe youve never heard of Hillsdale. Or maybe you hadnt heard about the school before it precipitated a floor fight in the Senate during tax bill negotiations last fall. But the tiny Christian college with a graduate school in statesmanship, a strong conservative bent and roots in an anti-slavery Baptist church, has long been a treasured institution in right-of-center circlesknown for its required classical liberal arts curriculum, its commitment to a principled conservatism, and its outreach in Washington, D.C.
Whats happened to Hillsdale lately reflects the compromises conservative institutions across the country have made following Donald Trumps 2016 victory: Theyve accommodated themselves to the president.
Thank you!!! Awesome forever photo! Beautiful and precious son and father!
Jimmy Carter is their graduation speaker. Anything else you need to know?
I am going to make a WAG and assume you mean Title IX rather than Title X in that morass of FUD that is the Federal Government acronym weed garden. Title IX being the one that is the 'equivalent' of the US Civil Rights Act (1964 & extensions) which requires enumeration of all those 'buckets' of differences so as to prove proper discrimination is being made FOR the various protected buckets. Thus discrimination in favor of the favored is permitted and blindness towards color or any other bucket is NOT PERMITTED!
“Jimmy Carter is their graduation speaker.”
That is a shocker. I didn’t know that. President Trump spoke at last year’s graduation ceremony.
“Anything else you need to know?”
Was hoping for a more thoughtful and detailed analysis under the assumption you have an above-average knowledge of conservative, post-secondary education institutions.
Thats a very red-faced correct: that reference should have been Title IX. Someday, Ill quit trying to post on a phone!
Hillsdale, Grove City, Patrick Henry, Biola (Dispensationalist), University of Dallas (Cistercian Roman Catholic, as I recall), College of the Ozarks (Baptist), Bob Jones (Fundamentalist-Freemason), Regents (Pat Robertson), Ave Maria (RC), Stubenville Ohio (RC).
I may have missed a few. Pepperdine? Covenant? Citadel? Norwich? VMI?
Hillsdale College...a great place which advertise on Rush, Sean and Mark.
My nine year old is currently attending a Barney Project Charter School. The one thing absolutely EVERY parent I’ve talked to does a happy dance over is the fact that we’re sponsored by Hillsdale.
I was raised in Hillsdale, great little town to live in. Great College for your kid to goto. If it wasn’t for Hillsdale College Hillsdale would just be another run down old factory town. The only two things going for it is Hillsdale College and the Hillsdale Fairgrounds. I would almost consider moving back to Hillsdale when I retire, If I ever make it to that age. I would goto alot of the special events at the college (mostly special guest speakers) for Hillsdale College, bowl at the College if they still have bowling, goto the auctions every weekend at the fairgrounds, and do a lot of fishing in the area.
Hillsdale has Christian roots as numerous colleges and universities in the US.
But, I wouldn’t be describing them as a “Christian” college.
They are known for their belief in the Constitution, teaching the Constitution, and their avoidance of federal funding.
More precise, if you’re saying what I think you’re saying:
Franciscan University of Steubenville (run by the Franciscan Order).
Didn’t she commit suicide after all that?
The daughter in law committed suicide. But the president later denied there was ever an affair. The son at first believed there had been an affair but maybe changed his mind later on. I’m not real clear on it all. I remember when it first happened. But I did not follow the story after we moved away from that area. All this happened during the Lewinsky Era.

Yes, that is what I thought had happened. It made me wonder about the college, but it may not be what it seemed to be.
Luv Liberty U. Glad to see that its now joined the mainstream of other universities in academics and athletics. But rejecting all federal dollars takes some real guts and cojones, and most Christian schools dont have them, so they take the aid and bow to their federal masters. Only Hillsdale and Grove City dont. They can tell the feds to shove their lefty regulations up their gaping regulatory arsehole.
Yes, thank you. That was the one of which I was thinking.
IIRC, Grove City is more engineering oriented, and Hillsdale more liberal arts. I got to see Larry Arn lecture in person while visiting once.
My beautiful alma mater! Perhaps America’s finest educational institution.
A friend and I were trying to figure out how to get up to the clocks. We were going to put Mickey Mouse hands on them.
