I have a keyless-ignition, but don't park the car in a garage. Nevertheless, I have started to exit the car a few times with the engine still running.
But this did happen to my next door neighbors a few months ago. One of their adult kids stopped over at 7 am and found them both unconscious. They both survived - and their kids made them sell the car.

I have a hard time thinking that this is a keyless ignition problem. This is simply a failure to turn off the damn car. Cars are supposed to beep if you open the door while the key is in the ignition. They are also supposed to beep if you get out of a running keyless ignition car. In any case, devices fail and people make mistakes. Nanny can’t be there for every danger. What about the building code requirement that attached garages must be fume proof? Do we ban garages, keyless ignitions or impaired people?

My car will make a beep if you exit it with the fob and the engine is still running... and after 15 minutes or so of beeping will shut itself off if the fob does not return to being in the car.

Modern engines are quieter and compsrtments more soundproofed. I have left it on a few times but car heeps if it is on and key fob leaves vehicle. In addition I now always have radio on since it it is on when I exit vehicle then engine is still running

I wonder how that number compares to people leaving the car running with regular keys still in the ignition...

20 years ago already, I wouldnt buy a house with a built in garage. It looks ridiculous and was too damned dangerous in too many ways back then.

What? They make keyless cars? I don’t buy anything newer than 6 or 7 years old.
