Only an idiot thinks its idiotic to leave the car idiling. Especially not knowing all the facts. Here, our cops leave their cruisers idling. Truck drivers do so as well. I do it at the gas pump as well.

...while I go inside to get coffee.
Police can ask for ID if you are operating a motor vehicle.
I will find you.
I will hunt you down.
AND I WILL LEAVE YOUR CAR IDLING.
Don't sweat it.
This boy's car will be idling in his driveway by nightfall.
I shall make it happen.
1. Stupid law to begin with.
2. Stupid law enforcement action, wasting time on a worthless charge when felons are running around loose
3. Stupid reaction by the individual to the police officer. lack of respect escalated to nonsensical levels.
You live in Cali based on your profile.
I leave mine running all the time when pit stopping; then again, some of the days I am out and about the high is only -8 degrees. Summer, meh, hit or miss depending if I am using AC.
/side note however: I have an auto-magic starter. I get out, take my keys with me and re-start the vehicle. Touch anything to operate the vehicle without the keys and it shuts off immediately.
“Police can ask for ID if you are operating a motor vehicle.”
Without probable cause for a stop?
It's nice when the temperature is 95 plus degrees as well. Air conditioning to cool the blazing interior. Again, so safety concern since there is no physical key in the ignition. The steering wheel is locked. Tne security system has the engine locked out for purposes of driving.
um, the car was stopped and driver was committing a violation.
You made the general statement => “Police can ask for ID if you are operating a motor vehicle. You did not specify in the case of a violation
They can’t just stop you and ask for ID willy-nilly just because you’re operating a vehicle.
How come Kansas had to pass this new law? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3654579/posts
