Monsanto introduced its glyphosate-based Roundup brand in 1974. But it is only now, after more than 40 years of widespread use, that the government is investigating the toxicity of “glyphosate-based herbicides” on human cells.

I usually go one and a half to two times the recommended mix ratio and it still doesn’t get everything. But sage is tough.

Is the Trumpet vine what we call “cow itch vine” down South?

Did you even read the article? The whole point is that glyphosphate itself doesn’t appear particularly carcinogenic—but the formulation it is used in does. Even Monsanto has an internal email stating that from 2002.

LOL, no way! They grow wild here and are very invasive. They are all over pasture fences. Same thing with honeysuckles. I work all summer to keep the honeysuckles and passion vines out of my blueberries.

Don’t beat yourself up over it. I did the same thing with English Ivy. Now I’m trying to remove it from all the trees. I’m making some progress though.

I am amazed at the # of George Soros’ Monsanto company supporters at Free Republic. Monsanto has spent decades forcing real farmers to not use natural seeds and suing to enforce everyone using the genetically altered seeds owned by Monsanto. Glyphosate in Roundup was originally used to remove caked on stuff from old pipes. Sounds like just what you’d like on your vegetables.

I admit to using Roundup when necessary but I haven’t had much luck with it killing the ivy. It does OK on the honeysuckles if I can spray them and not the blueberries. Mostly I rip the vines out by hand. I found a recipe for salt and vinegar spray that I’m going to try on the ivy. The only thing with that is that the salt will kill other stuff so you don’t want to use it around flowers, etc.

Well I'm a dead man then, I loved nothing better than to drink out of a garden hose when I was a kid, on a hot summer day.

The smart ones let the water run to cold before they drank. You only have to worry about the lead poisoning if you drink it without it flushing what's in the hose out first. Well, lead poisoning and third-degree burns from water sitting in the hose in the sun...

My grandparents had some lead solder in their pipes in their old house. They always told me to run the tap till it got cold, then it was good to go for drinking, same with the hose.

“I am amazed at the # of George Soros’ Monsanto company supporters at Free Republic”

Monsanto invests heavily in shaping their social media image.

“Investigate away. Stock up now on concentrate.”

I still have Dursban, Diozonin, and R-12, all of which were ‘uninvented’ due to the Left over 20 years ago. I’d have DDT, but it was banned before I was wise to them.

As to Round Up, YOU BET I’m well stocked with that!

Try some salt water with a splash of liquid detergent. My first application went down tonight. One gallon sprayer - $5 @ Wal-Mart. Salt $.36.

Is trumpet vine a bad, invasive species?

I ask because I have “Texas Trumpet Vine” in my back yard, and it looks pretty. Lots of downward-facing flowers in red and yellow. Flowers seem to only face the sun.
