The main character is given a choice to take either a blue pill or a red pill.

The blue pill means you continue in astate of ignorance is bliss. Nothing changes.

The red pill means you will experience the truth and it will change how you see everything.

To be redpilled means you have been exposed to the truth, and your eyes have now been opened to wwhat is really going on around you.
