Two nights ago with Tucker Carlson, I discussed the decision of the Boy Scouts of America to drop the "Boy" bit. The ruination of a great civilizing institution has been accomplished in a mere two decades. As I wrote three years ago:
In the late Nineties, the BSA said no to gay scoutmasters. I was on the floor of the Democratic Convention in Los Angeles in 2000 when they had some Eagle scouts as an honor guard - and in my section of the crowd everyone booed. And I remember thinking, "Man, these Dems are nuts. Booing boy scouts?"
But the booers won. Over the next decade, gay-friendly churches (Episcopalian, Congregational, and the other post-Christian ones) booted the scouts from church halls where they'd met for decades; Disney cut them off the list of approved charities to which their employees were permitted to donate their "Ears To You" fundraising proceeds; other corporate benefactors from the US soccer league to Lockheed Martin severed their ties ...and the number of new recruits to scouting dwindled remorselessly, and so did their finances. And in the end the boy scouts' leader caved - but too late. In the blink of an eye, the boy scouts had been, as my friend Ezra Levant likes to say, "de-normalized", and banished to the fringe, and nice soccer mommies don't want l'il Jimmy playing on the extremist fringe.

I agree with UpInArms. Your entire argument seems based upon the premises that the psychological needs of boys and girls are the same, and if not, then the presence of girls has negligible effect upon male socialization and character building, both of which are obviously false.
I took our middle daughter to our Cub Scout “Cub On” in the Santa Cruz mountains when she was about 11 (16 years ago). She had so much fun learning archery, knife handling, whittling, firearms safety, canoeing, and lots more. I think she had way more fun than her brother who was two years younger.

The fact that scouting in the US is a program for pre-pubescent children escapes notice. Most young scouts are not interested in sex of any kind. Having been a scout leader for a number of years the transition was always obvious. Showers went from being mandatory to voluntary. All of a sudden deodorant and cologne appeared. The leaders called the phenomena the fumes if the perfume did not get them the gasoline fumes would. The most masterful scout leaders were always the LDS units eagle them out at 14 or 15. The attempt to retain cadre by adding girls to the mix may work for a time but there already were Venture units where that was the order of the day. My son procrastinated and turned in his eagle book on his 18th birthday. He had been a star scout for 5 years and finally got motivated. Being summer camp staff has some added benefits. BTW there were lots of girls on summer camp staff too.
The BSA is losing membership rapidly. The reason for allowing girls in is to replace the dues lost by exiting families and churches. The BSA is top heavy with "professional" scouters who need to get regular paychecks.
The nature of the organization has changed but the Scout Oath and Law have not
The Oath and Law are hollow recitations. "Physically strong"? Count the potbellies on the scout leaders at your next scouting meeting. "Mentally awake"? If that were so, they would not have fallen for the homosexual propaganda. "Morally straight"? LOL.
That's all very progressive. Discrimination within families, you say.
When, pray tell, will it be decided if the change "works" for boys? Does anyone care?
Who's looking out for them? I've seen no mention of it, at all.

You miss the point. There are in reality no queers. There are fewer queers in BSA than in Catholic churches and protestant choirs. There are fewer queers in BSA than school.
Progressive? Building families and family values is a primary conservative value.

This is because we aren’t an agricultural nation that needs to produce farm hands. We also have a very low child mortality rate, so we don’t need to produce extra children to cover expected losses.
