According to sources familiar with the matter, South Korea's President Moon Jae-in has convinced North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is the best site for President Trump and Kim Jong Un's summit.

Correct. This is can be viewed as a capitulation for the USA to go all the way over to Korea on equal terms; prediction: Kim will also stand on the dividing line and ask him to step over into North Korea, another propaganda ploy. North Korea 1 , US 0 on tactics and imagery. I would never have accepted anything ****near** Korea, maybe Singapore or Mongolia but no not Korea. I would have tactically gotten Kim as far away from his base as possible. Now NORTH KOREA WILL say to their people and the world that they "made Trump come to Korea"...the third such US president they have done that too. Clinton and Carter being the others all the way to Pyongyang.
Damn these guys play a sharp game.

The original armistice agreement in 1953 was negotiated at a site northwest of Panmunjom Peace Village. The blue huts which straddle the military demarcation line were used for ad hoc meetings regarding disputes between the parties on maintaining the armistice. Freedom House was built by the South Koreans for reunification talks and is south of the demarcation line.

Trump will not meet Kim at the line. That was strictly a North/South dance. They will meet at Freedom House. I even suspect they wont be photographed shaking hands until Trump is satisfied that theres a deal.

You may be right, Trump is such an amateur negotiator Kim is going to roll him not only with imaginary, but in the negotiations itself.
As your posts suggest, Trump is going to get his ass handed to him

Yeah, me too. Don’t like the fact that the President would be too close to the North Korean border. When you ask for a sit down with the commander in chief of the worlds most powerful military HE picks the site of the sit down, not you.

The fact is, he risks boxing himself into a corner which surprises me since he is known to be such a good negotiator. Its so out of character. Very puzzling

Kim will insist Trump come to the line, so that he can be appropriately met protocol-wise. You would not have this in Singapore or Ulan Bator. Well they cannot do it ion Kuala Lumpur because that is where Kim had his brother nerve gassed to death.
Its (the line) only about 75 meters away from Freedom House anyway. Just watch.

When you ask for a sit down with the commander in chief of the worlds most powerful military HE picks the site of the sit down, not you. Bingo. As a general proposition that is a strong argument. Of course, this announcement re the DMZ could be BS or a floater by one of the parties to gauge reaction.
On the face of it, the two Korean leaders should meet at the DMZ not to negotiate but to ink a treaty already agreed to. There is a very real question of whether it is prudent for Trump to be present at the DMZ for any meeting at all. He could very formally congratulate them later at some other location, such as perhaps the UN.
Any rationale for Trump's presence could also be used to support the presence of Putin and the Chinese leader. Such would certainly calm any concerns about security.
OTOH, if Trump thinks his presence is wise then there may be more in play than is apparent to those of us on the sidewalk.

I understand your concern.
But there are also good reasons to hold it there. Remember, thi.s is where the two Korean leaders met recently
