Consider the uproar if a bank stopped use of its credit card at Planned Parenthood. Or gay bars.

Which banks and credit card companies?

I want to divest wherever possible.

Why is this a concern of banks?

I sit back and wonder what the driving force behind this is. It takes considerable influence to do this yet we never hear about the man behind the curtain. Sure we all think it’s Soros but that’s not good enough.

Perhaps it’s all the liberal politicians that retire into cushy jobs on the board of financial institutions?

There are three gun stores near my house where I have seen customers make purchases using cash. Stories like this encourage that.

LC9s. Purchased with visa in april, just for my convenience My FFL licensed dealer would have preferred cash. I can accommodate him next time if I have to.

So as vehicles kill far more people than guns will the credit card companies try to ban their use for part or all the price of the vehicles?

All this does is reinforce my belief in private sales. I only buy from regular people selling their firearms.

Try armslist.

Just on more small step towards making the sporting life more difficult. We know we can’t make guns illegal but we can make it so difficult you don’t want to exercise the rights you have.

Sounds like a great opportunity to introduce the Privacy in Purchasing act of 2018. It should be illegal for banks to obtain, retain, or otherwise process data from their payment systems in such a way that they can identify what the purpose of the payment was without the explicit permission of the account holder.

Apart from matching payers with payees, there is no need for a bank to be recording the nature of what was exchanged in the transaction. And apart from the convenience of online records, there is no reason a bank has to preserve that data for very long.

Banks will insist that they need the data to catch frauds but there are other ways to do that analysis that do not put banks in the position of spying on people.

The law should also ban discrimination by banks against any buyer or seller of legal products.

Sounds like a project for the ILA.

As soon as banks stop using armed guards and armored trucks to defend their money and premises we can begin to talk.

I guess the logical next step is that once they’re identified, they’ll be showing up on credit reports...

Perhaps our side should try to get AHEAD of this crap.

Time for a strong privacy movement in America.

We need some clearinghouses to investigate for and list the most privacy-friendly groups, websites, credit cards, politicians, states, etc.

Then, use and promote them.

As far as cashless, our millenials dislike cash as much as they dislike talking on their phones.

Money orders work just fine.

And direct debits to a checking account.

And the seller doesn’t have to pay any fees to the credit card companies on the transaction.

“There’s a privacy angle here,”

There should be an antitrust angle. Sounds like it is time to tighten up the antitrust laws.
