the head of FBI reports to the Deputy AG, who reports to the AG, who reports to the President.
The Deputy AG was/is Rosenstein.
Thank you for posting that chart. I left out the Dep. AG when describing the FBI Director’s superiors. Neither the CIA (Brennan) nor the DNI (Clapper) are located anywhere in that chart of DoJ subordinates and neither do either of those offices/agencies have any authority over the DoJ.
Who gave Comey this “assignment?”
My problem is Clapper appears to have been giving Comey orders.
Rosenstein assumed office as the Dep. AG on April 26th 2017 so he was not the Dep. AG when Comey briefed Trump at Trump Towers Dana Boente was.
Under the post-9/11 reorganization of the intelligence community, the head of the FBI’s Intelligence Branch—since 2014, Robert Mueller/James Comey appointee Eric Velez-Villar—also reports to the DNI—at the time of the dossier briefing, James Clapper.
