That state of affairs won't last forever. In fact, its already come to an end. It's why Trump is President.
At some point, people have had enough, and the social compact begins to unravel. The people begin to withdraw their consent to be governed, and the ruling class is undone by the 'death of a thousand cuts', or violent revolution. One way or another, it comes to an end. Even the mighty USSR discovered that you can't oppress an entire people indefinitely.
I hope you are right. I just don’t see anyone but the older generation willing to fight back though.
At least in the Soviet union everyone knew they were being lied to. Here at least half of the public believes the media.
