In the few days since the rapper Kanye West has doubled down on his public affinity for President Trump and other conservative figures on Twitter, his opinions and the backlash they have wrought in some circles have been hailed by those who have long seen the entertainment world as oppressively liberal.
Kind of a big deal, Donald Trump Jr. wrote on Instagram. Seems like a cultural turning point.
Bill OReilly chimed in about ideological zealots in the entertainment industry who were criticizing Mr. West. Jesse Watters, the Fox News commentator, argued that Mr. West, 40, had loosened the grip the Democratic Party holds on the black vote.
The biggest pat on the back came from the president himself, who posted several tweets about Mr. West. On Friday, he wrote, Kanye West has performed a great service to the Black Community.
Mr. West began his latest foray into politics last weekend. He praised the thinking of the black conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has spoken out against the Black Lives Matter movement.
About the president, he wrote admiringly that they both shared dragon energy and that he is my brother. He also posted a photo of his Trump-autographed Make America Great Again cap.
Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative student movement that has worked with Ms. Owens, was unreserved in calling Mr. Wests support a pretty extraordinary moment.
Its important to recognize that black Americans, and in particular black celebrities, should be allowed to have different opinions without being called crazy.

While I think this is true and believe that Candace Owens is a remarkable courageous individual, I still think Kanye’s crazy.
I bet he likes his tax cut.

With whom do most black voters have more in common? A white, unemployed blue-collar Republican in eastern Kentucky, or a white, upper class SJW Democrat voter in Palo Alto?
If you watched the white elitists night show hosts attacking Kanye. Here is the chance for Kanye to double down and call them elitists white Racists!!
Not a turning point.
He is the rare man who has enough backbone to withstand the withering Twitterstorm that send others like Shania Twain scurrying for cover.
The Left can still turn 90% of ‘em by beating them up on social media. IMO that’s WHY social media was invented.
Kanye is also smart enough to understand (like Michael Jordan) that 50% of the population buys his Yeezy shoes...
A-list...more like Krazy list.
All good tho, if it makes the hateful left sputter.
Caution is in order.
Candace Owens is embracing conservatism itself, and Kanye is embracing President Trump, the man.
Despite her lack of celebrity gravitas, Candace and those like her may be much more important for our side, and is less likely to succumb to peer pressure than Kanye, IMHO.
Down here in the celebrity worship that happens in Florida, the local Miami media is ignoring this story...that tells you how big it is. Media liberals (redundant) cannot handle it, don’t know how to respond.
Dunno ‘bout that.
I think what we mainly see is a high profile man being bullied by the media for publicly holding an opinion contrary their own.
Everyone here will remember Bono from U2, whens the last time you heard anything about him? He was the darling of the media for his efforts to highlight poverty in Africa. That is, until he committed a high truth crime. What truth crime you ask? He said simply and truthfully that the fastest way to lift Africans out of abject poverty was capitalism. With that all coverage ceased.
This is exactly what theyll do to West.
