It turns out Oregonians are good at growing cannabistoo good. In February, state officials announced that 1.1 million pounds of cannabis flower were logged in the state's database.
If a million pounds sounds like a lot of pot, that's because it is: Last year, Oregonians smoked, vaped or otherwise consumed just under 340,000 pounds of legal bud.
This month, WW spoke to two dozen people across Oregon's cannabis industry. They describe a bleak scene: Small businesses laying off employees and shrinking operations. Farms shuttering. People losing their life's savings are unable to declare bankruptcy because marijuana is still a federally scheduled narcotic.

Oregon has always been full of underachievers, typical liberals.
Personally I'm trying to stop using sexual innuendos but it's hard, so hard.
Gee not every wants to get stoned
Export crop...way to go, Oregon!
Then you increase demand.
Sure, what business of it of mine what you do? :)
We’re already living in a place where people look blankly at a drawer of cash when asked to make change for a 5 dollar bill....
Ask yourself honestly if it really matters if “that guy” from the above example is stoned. It might make the encounter more interesting at least.
Isn't that what's in coumadin the blood thinner?
Adam Smith was on to something.
Too much pot?
Feed it to the Spotted Owls.
And the time the gov't took over the Bunny Ranch for back taxes, and couldn't make a go of that either.
Put the gov't, especially west-coast liberal gov't, in charge and you're pretty much guaranteed they'll scr*w it up.
I suspect it's only LEGAL growers who are hurting. Over-regulated and overtaxed, their product is unaffordable. Stoners aren't rich, you know, so they went underground. The expensive, legal stuff rots in the warehouse...
Yeah, you made me choke on my drink there for a sec with that one. I like your humor! =D

“If you put the government in charge of the desert, in 5 years there would be a shortage of sand.”
The first time i heard that line was from a Yuri Bezmenov lecture. Potent!

Just concentrates, sure. But people are getting way higher than they normally would. Like overdriving your headlights.
Be careful out there.
Of the three MJ smokers I can't disassociate myself from: 1) One is dead of drugs at 30
2) A second toker, a biker-neighbor who's also a retired sheriff's deputy, is tethered to oxygen at 70. His girlfriend, maybe 60 y-o, smokes MJ even more often and just had a heart attack.
3) A third toker, a neighbor and very long-term regular user, is also tethered to an oxygen bottle. For years, I never saw him outdoors. Retired at 60 from a grounds-keeping job, and inheriting millions, he can no longer visit his summer lake place at age 65.
Cannabis flower is bud. Ground cannabis seed is sold as a dietary supplement and baked into bread. Highly nutritious.
Yeah because Marxist State Gubermints are so adept at setting up a Capitalists Supply and Demand system from scratch. Just the normal bunch of Socialist fruck ups.
All you need are a few more Northern States to legalize Medical a Recreational MJ and you have a market for the excess. I would much rather see the Fed get rid of it’s Schedule for MJ so that States can do as they please without the overreach and meddling we now experience.
For those who wish to respond negatively be advise this is a freedom issue and has nothing to do with drug use. I am 78 and have enough meds to deal with for heart issues without resorting to MJ or any other unprescribed drug. I grew up in drug a drug free zone.
Let’s see that’s $3.59 change I owe this dude...wish they had $3 bills...so, that’s 3 ones... or 12 quarters...then a couple more quarters...hey, look at that quarter... must be a new one...2017, Ellis Island....haven’t seen that one before. Wonder when the 2018s will hit the till. Anyway, (closing till and looking up) “Can I help you, sir?”
