Ford to stop selling every car in North America but the Mustang and Focus Active

Ford today announced it will phase out most cars it sells in North America. According to its latest financial release, the auto giant will "will transition to two vehicles" being the Mustang and an unannounced vehicle, the Focus Active, as the only traditional cars it sells in the region. Ford sees 90 percent of its North America portfolio in trucks, utilities and commercial vehicles. Citing a reduction in consumer demand and product profitability, Ford is in turn not investing into the next generation sedans. The Taurus is no more.

The Focus is a small car, so they can buy that. I love big RWD slush-box sedans, but the writing is on the wall. People want trucks and SUVs of all sizes and types. Real full-sized station wagons went away 20+ years ago, and they aren't coming back, either.

I couldn’t believe it either when I saw it on Yahoo. Especially since they’re about the king of fake news.
This is a “New Coke” move. They’ll collapse most of their dealerships if they do this, I think.
At least new car sales.

Ok, Ford so when gas goes back to $4+ per gallon, then what?Ford plans to have a hybrid Mustang and hybrid F150 by 2020. Ford promises Mustang HP comparable to the V8. The hybrid F150 can be used as a mobile generator.

Ford makes a damn nice truck. I was never a Ford guy when it came to trucks. I always thought the interior had a cheap feel to it.
That said... Yes, they make some damn nice trucks these days.
