Bavarias regional government has ordered crosses to be placed at the entrances of all state administrative buildings. The states conservative administration said that the crosses should reflect Bavarias cultural identity and Christian-Western influence. The decree was passed on Tuesday and wont apply to federal government buildings in Bavaria.
The predominantly Catholic states public schools and courtrooms are already obliged to display crosses at entrances. Bavaria is governed by the Christian Social Union, the Bavarian partners of Chancellor Angela Merkels Christian Democrats who tend to be more conservative on social issues. The decision comes after last Septembers federal election, which saw a rise in support for the anti-immigration and populist Alternativ für Deutschland.
Horst Seehofer, former CSU premier of Bavaria and now Germanys interior minister, has pressed Merkels government for tighter immigration controls. Following the reelection of Viktor Orban in Hungary earlier this month, Seehofer warned that the European Union had displayed arrogance and paternalism to states like Hungary.
Bavarias current President, Markus Söder, has followed a similarly conservative line once saying one thing is clear for the CSU: Crucifixes belong in classrooms, headscarves dont.
Wow! Libs everywhere grinding their teeth.
Bavarian Refugee Ping!
Spent a lot of time in Bavaria while I was stationed in Germany and, of all the various regions in the then-FRG, I liked Bavaria the best - not just in terms of the natural beauty of the area, but the people. They were far more friendly (especially to Americans), far more outspoken about their hatred of Nazism and anti-Semitism and yes, far more patriotic and conservative.
More winning!!
Whoa....hope for Germany? Nice
.
My Great Great Grandparents were Bavarian (came over before the Kaiser and the unification of Germany).
I was told that frequently my GGGrandma was heard to say (in her very heavy Germanic accent) “Dem Chermans, they is the devil”.
Who knows, this guy is still around.

He could be king of Great Britain too.
Not an expert in German politics but hypocrisy is universal and my spider-senses are picking up on some here. Seems to me that these guys are just posturing for votes because their support for Merkel is enabling her in directly undermining Christian values and fostering rapid islamicization of Germany. If they meant any of this, they'd walk away from her. Instead they pretend to be tough guys while they look the other way as Merkel, with their help, brings in millions of violent anti-christian thugs and forces them upon the German public.
Bavaria is kinda like the Texas of Germany.
