There are many here operating on the emotional level to stop all immigration.
So in reading this article our preconceived position comes first.
The fact is we need and want some immigration. What we want is controlled immigration, which is what we have always had for the most part.
We want the good one, deport that bad ones. We don’t have a plan right now and we need one.
This article does not speak to that issue, and maybe intentionally.
In the period 1880-1920 about 30% of the newcomers returned to the old country. Couldn’t hack it. No welfare back then. It’s called self deportation.
And I believe your post expresses what 99% of FReepers are advocating. There is nothing wrong with planned and controlled legal immigration along with expected cultural assimilation (not cultural abandonment). What so many are really advocating, just below the surface, is the importation of hordes of third-world people to pick the cotton, or lettuce, or to reduce labor costs in a given factory — at the expense of the well-being and civil order of this country.
The latter is nothing but self-interest and so contributing money to bribe politicians to lower your production costs at the expense of everyone else is just plain immoral.
No, we don't.
One out of seven people in the country today, are foreign born. That is the highest percentage in our nation's history. The numbers are so great, that they're overwhelming our ability to absorb and assimilate them into our culture. It's cultural destruction by inundation.
America actually needs to halt ALL immigration for at least a quarter century, to give us time to assimilate these people. A half century would be even better.
Your comment needs more clarification.
We MIGHT want the good ones(whatever they are). And we MAY even need, the good ones. But, not until we’ve exhausted the supply of able bodied individuals that are willing to work, here in the US.
And DEPORT all the ones that came her just to pop out a citizen, start collecting benefits and then bring their entire family over via chain migration. And all of the women in that group will then pop out another citizen, or 5, and collect even more benefits.
And the controls will consist on first, do you come from a country that has, for the most part, wanted to see the West and the USA destroyed? Second, does your religion teach you to kill anyone that isn’t a member of said religion, unless the convert or pay a tax? Thirdly, what skill set are you bringing that the US is in desperate need of? Fourthly, do you have the ability to support yourself and your family, without getting one penny of public monies?
If by some stroke of luck, you are allowed in the USA: You are aware that any children, born to you in a US hospital, will not be a US citizen and you will have to pay the hospital fee, up front? And you will not be permitted to apply for any chain migration for any family members. If a family member comes and fails to leave when their visa expires, the entire family will be immediately deported. If you or a family member, commits a crime of violence, theft or fraud, and that you will be held responsible for anything that a visiting family member or friend does, while visiting the US and the entire family will be deported, if anything happens.
If the answers are: Yes ... Yes ... None ... No. Then you will not be allowed to enter into the USA.
If you can make it past those four questions, do you acknowledge that you understand and will honor the subsequent criteria about children, chain migration or the behavior of visiting family members and friends?
All the one here illegally are bad ones...and yes we do have a plan, it's called the current but unenforced immigration laws.
