Don't get me wrong, I'm under no illusions that NJ is good or easy. The three letter thing is a real burden. You only have so many days, you tell them who you want to endorse you and the city sends those people a form to fill out testifying that you are neither crazy nor dangerous. the forms have to be notarized and sent by the authors back to the municipality within that narrow time window which I'm sure keeps many many people from getting firearms here. Especially because many of my friends and neighbors are lefties who I didn't really want to ask for help getting a firearm because I really didn't want the drama. But other than that it was easy.
But then I guess that's a bit like saying "But other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how did you like the play?"
I just went into the gun store, picked out the rifle I wanted, and filled out the 4473.
I did have to get a "permission slip" from the sheriff for the handguns - but no notarizin' or letterin'.
