Sadly,it’s *very* common with old folks. One dies and the other is gone within days/weeks.
Uh oh. Prayers.
That was fast.
Happened to my dad, my mom died and he lost all will to live and died within a year after her......
May God watch over you President Bush and welcome you to heaven to reunite you with your loving wife...........
I wanted my Mom and Dad to die in their sleep in bed together on the same night. Unfortunately it did not end that way.
Yeah.... I was thinking that this may be one of those cases, even before Barbara died.
And sometimes the surviving spouse surprises everyone and goes on to live longer than anyone expected. Sometimes it’s hard to tell.
Broken heart....
let’s all pray for him.
He probably doesn’t want to be in their house by himself without her.
He probably has a urinary catheter because of his Parkinson’s.
The stress of his wife’s death probably depressed his immune system to the point where he developed sepsis, which the layman calls blood poisoning.
In a 94 year old the outcome from sepsis is nearly always fatal.
Surprised he’s lived this long since Sunday morning.
“... after contracting an infection that spread to his blood...”
Sepsis? I doubt “recovering” is the proper description as the prognosis for sepsis is not very good and extremely poor for some one of his age.
Took my mother in just a matter of hours at 83.
Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds come to mind... :-(
Not for me either. My mom who I loved dearly drove me nuts for seven years after my dad died.
I’m sure Saturday was an unusually long day for him - probably weakened his defenses, and he was already frail.
the worst thing to ever happen to my dad was my mom dying before he did....my dad had cancer and had made peace with the fact he was going to die. my mom went into the hospital for back surgery ad died 2 weeks later from a blood clot that caused a massive heart attack. he was devastated and pretty much decided to die after her funeral.
My prayers would be for comfort as he slips through the veil into Bar’s arms.
Grand parents died within a month of each other. At the time I thought it was kinda romantic. A few years later I lost my only child, damn near killed me. Hard to recover from a kick in the gut like that.
