Survival instinct. He has to be aware at all times so nothing sneaks up to grab him.
That’s why you need to get him comfortable enough to eat while the dish is next to your feet, so you’re above him and not in front of him. He can’t see your hand while his face is buried in the food. :-)
I hope that thing on her face can be dealt with too. I do worry about surgery because she’s old and has a heart murmur but that thing will have to be removed if it’s benign. It’s big. Fortunately she doesn’t seem to know it’s there because she hasn’t scratched it ....... yet.
I’m workin’ on it. He just never really lets me out of sight. It’s going to take a long time!
