Qs again ?
FRiends, this is totally off topic but I can’t stand it any longer. The flies here are horrible. Ugh, gave up on the fly swat yesterday because it did nothing but stir them up. Ick, finally went with hand squishing since they seem to congregate in one window and mostly sit there waiting to be squished. No, the window isn’t in the kitchen. Yes, the window is closed. Yes, I’ve washed the window, the sill, the edge where it goes up and down. Washed it several times over the past few weeks with store brand windex. Cleaned every nook and cranny of it for half an hour yesterday, inside and as much as I could outside but outside shouldn’t matter. Vacuumed up countless dead ones on the floor. The seal and window molding is wood but the window frame is aluminum. Put out homemade fly catcher jars with apple cider vinegar or sugar water on the sill and have basil and mint plants nearby that are supposed to deter them. But still have and invasion of flies. There’s a jar with vinegar in it right now that they’re happily buzzing around but not going into.
They’re coming in through the back door, not the window. Yeah, yeah, shut the door. Nope, not happening. I’d be up and down every 5 seconds constantly letting furbabies in and out and in and out and in and out. I’d thought about getting that screen thing with magnets for the door but don’t think the kitties would understand it and the dogs would have it torn up in no time. One dog is practically blind and gets confused/lost going behind the door instead of through it so she’d go nuts trying to get out. Also, thought of getting a screen door and cutting the screen off the lower half for them to make a somewhat smaller opening to get in but figured they’d all still get in.
Help! What to do?
Had no idea Macron was in a gang!!! Bawhahaha.
Looks like a gang sign to me that Macron is flashing.
Those are HIS fingers, aren’t they?
Hello!
How was your tour yesterday?
Love seeing the beautiful Spring flowers, a marvelous time of year.
Gang? Ha.Ha, Ha
He is clearly signaling “hook ‘em horns”
Hate those pesky flies!!!!
A doggie/kittie door is out of the question?
I knew it was truly Spring when the 1st fly wandered in, used to have those big horse flies until our neighbor’s horse passed away, miss the horse not the flies.
Tried that, too, and don’t like fly strips. The stickiness gets on the window and curtain and had two fall into the floor. Those things are not easy to clean up. And the furbabies like to find out what’s new and they get messed up in them.
Just hand squished two dozen. There will ten times that many as the day warms up. Don’t know what it is about that window. Don’t know why they act all lazy there waiting to get squished.
I use those fly rolls. Not sure what they are called. about 10 in a pack for about 3$. Some years are worse than others.... 2 years ago was terrible here in NE Ohio
Also make up a batch of natural repellant. (from my notes in past)
Using a 4 oz clean spray bottle, fill it with 2 ounces of distilled or boiled water. Add 1 ounce of witch hazel or vodka then about 50 to 75 drops of essential oils, any combination of the above oils should work. If you want to add more varieties of oils, just add less of each oil you are adding in, if you wish for it to be less strong of a mixture, just add less drops. You just want be sure to keep the total percentage of essential oils under 15% for safety. I added approximately .5 ounces of jojoba oil for its moisturizing properties, but this isnt necessary. Remember, you dont want to fill the bottle completely full, so there is room to shake the mixture each time, which is necessary as the essential oils do not dissolve in the water and will therefore separate.
I usually do Citronella, eucalyptus, peppermint, lemon
also can use: There are many essential oils, known for being excellent natural insect repellents. Here are just some of them: Citronella, Clove, Lemongrass, Lemon Eucalyptus, Cedarwood, Rosemary, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Cedar, Catnip, Lavender, Peppermint, Basil, Rose Geranium, Cinnamon Oil, Thyme, Lemon, Orange, Pine
Doggie door is out of the question.
I try to keep the door partially open but 100+ lb slobber bucket’s tail pushes it wider.
There’s another dozen back there AGAIN so saturated the sill with bug spray. It just caused them to move from the sill to the window pane and the next window. Looks like it only got one.
time at the cemetery was great.

here is the Facebook album link for those on Facebook. do friend me if you are
Cemetery houses remains of Elliot Ness, Rockefeller, has the Wade chapel with Tiffany window, James a Garfield HUGE memorial (that badly needs sandblasting)
Blah, I think I threw out all the essentials oils. Will look again. Thanks.
I use my oils for so many things.
Beautiful cemetery, flowers and grounds.
We do a lot of genealogy work so cemeteries become a friend.
Find the older, the more interesting.
That’s either Texas Longhorns, or some kind of satanic thing. Heavy metal fans do this. That is truly weird.
Maybe Macron is signaling someone in France.
Weird is right.
