(CNN)Alabama has executed Walter Leroy Moody, 83, who had been convicted of murder for the mail bombing death of a federal judge in 1989.
Moody is the oldest person put to death since the Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976, according to figures compiled by the Death Penalty Information Center. Earlier Thursday, the Supreme Court denied the appeals from Moody's attorney after temporarily delaying his death by lethal injection.

My mother dated Judge Robert Vance a couple of times at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham. She said he had a job driving a diaper truck and he picked her up and took her to a dance in the truck.
You should be aware that back then, there were no Republicans in the South. Well, except for Newt Gingrich and he was from Pennsylvania.
Yeah, there were some. That Federal Judge in Alabama that gave Gov. Wallace heartburn was one.
That’s torture... waiting all those years...
It was hard to do because of a lot of family in the area, most born there. We eventually did move farther south, but we kept the house and do have to tend to it.
It’s still not a bad area, but back then it was peaceful, a country atmosphere with very few subdivision type areas.
I suppose it looked like the perfect place to hide and carry out his bomb making. Moody moved into a house in one of the older neighborhoods. Shocked everyone that someone like that had come to our small town.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
welcome to hell, Mr. Moody. you’ll be rooming with Bundy today...
You live in the wrong hood. LOL
I believe McVeigh said he didn’t want any appeals.
#11. I’d move if I were you.
There’s garbage everywhere.
So Libtard “justice” drags it out for 30 years and now they can complain that he was so “old” to be executed. Execute him in 1990 and we wouldn’t need to have the discussion.
That’s also a big aspect of the capital punishment debates with the great “expense” of capital punishment — Libtards make it such an incredible expensive and lengthy process to execute a murderer that they then use the argument that capital punishment is so expensive that we ought to just settle for life in prison. Well capital punishment should NOT be so damned expensive, and it should SAVE us from 30-50+ years of public support of murderers in prison.
no it isn’t, too many women think that they can fix even the most broken of men.
We did.
The death penalty standard here in America has to have been set when a man tried to kill the President-elect, Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1932.
While FDR escaped injury in the attempt, Chicago mayor Tony Cermak was severely wounded. 2 weeks into the trial Mr. Cermak expired, and they switched mid-stream into a murder trial.
The suspect was captured, arrested, arraigned, tried, convicted and executed in 34 days, iirc.
It isn’t really fair to the condemned to keep them on death row for years and years, and it sure as hell isn’t fair to the taxpayers to have to pay to keep them in prison for years and years. Only the attornies seem to benefit from this arrangement?
I think we should keep a wary eye out for him! If his name is some derivation of “Wayne Lee” hell, just lock him up right now on GP.
Some women like violent thugs. Members of street gangs have no shortage of female attention as well.
