(CNN)Alabama has executed Walter Leroy Moody, 83, who had been convicted of murder for the mail bombing death of a federal judge in 1989.
Moody is the oldest person put to death since the Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976, according to figures compiled by the Death Penalty Information Center. Earlier Thursday, the Supreme Court denied the appeals from Moody's attorney after temporarily delaying his death by lethal injection.

That piece of human filth had friends?
“The only thing cruel and unusual about the death penalty are the appeals.” - El Rushbo
29 years on death row?
At 83, it makes me wonder why they even bothered.
“That piece of human filth had friends? “

They always do,and often women fall for them AFTER they are imprisoned. One of the great mysteries of the human race.
.
After so long why bother?
At least us taxpayers won’t have to pay for his bypass.
Hey, a new record.
Justice.
He got the death penalty and life imprisonment!
True story, this garbage lived about 1.5 miles from me when he was arrested.
Then, that another piece of human debris - the one that murdered Shannon Melendi - lived about the same distance in the opposite direction from my house.
Exactly. Just make a loud noise as you’re walking past his cell and he’ll probably stroke out.
This should have been done by 1995.
You should probably move.
They probably already did.
Delayed.
29 years to long on death row.
29 years?
I believe of course in due process. And believe in appeals and carefully carrying out legal appeals and processes.
But what happened that the whole process took decades???
Wasn’t Timothy McVeigh executed five or six years after the Oklahoma City bombing, in contrast to this case?
If they had not waited 29 years, he would have been executed in his mid-50s. Instead, taxpayers paid to keep him in prison for almost 30 years.
Those receiving death sentences for heinous crimes should be permitted no more than TWO appeals during a TWO year period after the sentence and, if appeals are denied, then executed.
