SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has expressed its desire for complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and is not seeking conditions such as U.S. troops withdrawing from the South first, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said on Thursday.
Moon said big-picture agreements about normalization of relations between the two Koreas and the United States should not be difficult to reach through planned summits between North and South, and between the North and the United States, in a bid to rein in the Norths nuclear and missile programs.
North Korea is expressing a will for a complete denuclearization, Moon told reporters.

It hasn’t solidified yet.
What you’re hearing is the deep fear of the Chinese. U.S nuclear weapons right on their border. This looks like a Chinese offer/demand.
Give it a couple more hours, he hasn't woken up yet. Reggie will be bringing him his Juice box and bowl of Fruit Loops soon enough. Breakfast in bed, a little schmoozing then work on the Press Release on how the great Obama saved the world from a nuclear Holocaust.
This is interesting.
Kim Jong-un has seen a good bit of the West.
He knows leaders in the west are much more secure in their positions than he is. They have more freedom of action outside their borders. The proof of his insecurity is the heavy hand he uses to keep the people immediately under him in line.
There are potential benefits for him. He can become the most highly thought of Korean in History, while having an excellent chance of keeping most of his power within his borders, and more influence outside the borders.
Can it happen... maybe.
I think your are correct about the fear of China on Japan and South Korea nuking up.
I also think China is realizing just how huge an economic blow cutting trade with the USA would incur on them, with hardly any real harm to us.
I know I will be flamed for that remark but the truth is that we can do without China imports much easier then they can do without our export (money). China will have riots and the military actions that will follow within their country. We will not.
Opportunity for the Chinese to walk right in and take it all
Stormy, Stormy, Stormy!
All the while Trump is ending a 68 year war
Moon (like 3/4 of all S Koreans) is half a Commie himself.
If Trump manages to get NK to denuclearize it will virtually guarantee a second Nobel Peace Prize for Obama!
And THAT is the biggest worry I have. We’ll have to see how the talks go. First, deciding where to meet. Baby steps.
Post of the day!
Agree completely.
Art of the Deal. Everybody has to get something.
USA: Gets out of Korea, bringing our nukes with us.
ROK: Gets the 50-year project of reconstructing DPRK.
DPRK: Gets food, civililzation.
PRC: Gets a non-hostile power on the Korean peninsula and is in a better position to take Taiwan.
Win-win-win-win.
Taiwan loses. Can't make an omlet without breaking eggs.
🐂💩🐂💩🐂💩
If it seems too good to be true, it is.
Take what all?
The Norks ain't got nutten, honey.
The South Koreans still have Uncle Sugar covering their backs, so what is there to take?
Some ppl never learn.
-Saddam promised he had no WMDs or precursor materials but would not allow spot inspections of suspected facilities. In 2006 550 tons of Uranium yellowcake were recovered from the Tuwaitha Nuclear Research Center.
-”In September 2013 the Syrian government entered into several international agreements for the destruction of its chemical weapons that stipulated an initial destruction deadline of 30 June 2014, a deadline apparently achieved in respect of declared chemical weapons.
Yet, “On 17 August 2017, Reuters published a report detailing the extent of Syrias failure to abandon chemical weapons, citing information from investigators, inspectors and diplomatic sources. ...The Syrian government inaccurately or even falsely declared the types, purposes and quantities of chemicals in its possession, and is suspected of continuing to hold at least 2,000 chemical bomb shells that should have been converted to conventional weapons. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_chemical_weapons_in_the_Syrian_Civil_War
What type of idiot would believe NK will relinquish its nuclear weapons and ICBMs? NK only wants to forestall an attack and buy time while they produce ICBMs and nuclear warheads. They’ve been on this path for 30 years and have repeatedly lied and continued their pursuit of ICBMs and nuclear weapons. They are now in the production phase and need 3-5 years to produce enough ICBMs to completely overwhelm American AMB systems. They have already developed ICBMs, launch trajectories and maneuverable warheads which can avoid US missile fense systems in the Western Pacific. ATT their warheads can only be intercepted in the terminal phase -if at all.
Last year, I watched a couple of Youtube videos with NK folks who’d escaped and they explained the weeks of adjustment required when entering into South Korean culture.
I see a massive problem in taking the NK people through a likely ten-year phase of living in a modern society. For South Korean business operations....it’ll be an enormous boom with cheap manpower for an entire decade.
Just a few weeks ago CNN and others were running around saying that Trump was going to get us into a nuclear war with NK. I actually think that CNN, and the dems are anxious to see millions of Americans or SK’s or Japanese die in a NK nuclear attack, just as long as Trump got the blame. That is how sick these people are.

LOL. So true! If I were Trump, that’s what I’d say to Rocket Man when he complains the evil U.S. wants to take over their country... WHY? Are we short of starving people and dirt or something?
I truly hope this whole thing works out. If it does, I wonder how Kim is going to explain to his people that America is suddenly NOT the evil place he’s made it out to be, and you know that “we’re going to bomb them any moment now” crap... it was just, um, a test or something.
And credit to our magnificent President, of course, if this comes about!
I cannot see the U.S. abandoning Taiwan in this exchange.
