They must have invited him to the White House once or to watch them play golf.

She was indeed a grande dame. She was very liberal (she was from Rye, NY, which at her time was all wealthy old-money), but her manner was courteous and polite even to more conservative folk.

Bush’s funeral will be held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas
at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21. The service is closed to the public. Mr. and
Mrs. Bush have been devoted members of the church since the 1950s.

Mrs. Bush will lay in repose between noon and midnight on Friday, April 20
at St. Martin’s Church.

After the service, there will be a funeral procession from Houston to College
Station that will proceed through Memorial Park. The motorcade will go north
on Westcott, then up Highway 290, Highway 6, into College Station via Texas
Avenue. The procession will turn left on George Bush Drive, and right into the
library on Barbara Bush Drive.

Mrs. Bush will be laid to rest next to her daughter, Robin, who died from
Leukemia at 3-years-old.

I honestly am shocked by some FReepers (almost hate to acknowledge them as such) who spew bile about a just deceased woman, a former first lady.

Some people have a chip missing & were obviously have no sense of etiquette. I am repulsed by some comments I’ve seen on here.

I would have mourned, except for how they have acted about Trump.

In the early 80s I had the honor and privilege of standing next to Mrs. Bush for over an hour in a reception line, outdoors, in Midland, Texas; it was hot enough to be really uncomfortable, but this classy lady seemed to enjoy it and never lost her wit and humor. I had a great time visiting with her and still cherish the memory.

I asked her how she could stand living in Washington, DC, and she replied with a huge smile, "Oh, I love it, of course! George Bush is there!" She meant it, too. No matter what you think of the Bush family as a whole, know that she was loaded with good old gal class, and loved George H. W. with all her heart.

I saw her twice after that, years apart, and she remembered me both times.

I always liked her and admired her spunk.

I was sorry when she turned on Sarah Palin and Trump, but particularly Sarah.

I've been trying to keep quiet. But since November 2006, when Pelosi became Speaker and Tony Snow rejoiced over throwing open our borders to the hordes from Central America...every day I've liked the Bush Trube just a little less than the day before.

Today is no exception.

Barbara Bush at least on the surface was so much smarter, charming, lovable, and believable compared to her lefty rino George....

she was a grand old dame.....the likes we won't see again for a while with no replacements in sight...

I saw this today. Now I haven't been the biggest fan of the Bushes, but when I saw this my screen got blurry.

No one truly gets over losing a child like that.
