Define “violent crime” as is used in both federal and state statutes. Make it clear, concise. A “burglary” is not usually classified as a violent crime unless the burglar is carrying a defined weapon (gun, knife, bat/stick, etc).

Time for Congress to get off its ass and do things right for the first time in many decades.

Whoever wrote this original definition down....really didn’t know what they were doing, or intended to create this screw-up intentionally. Violent crime could mean various things. Felony goes down a particular list, and there’s no discussion about felony convictions.
