TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The whacky weather we've had lately is what some consider a major sign from Earth.
"Our Earth is basically letting us know that something is not right," said Denise Abdul-Rahman.
With Earth Day just days away, the Greater Terre Haute NAACP discussed climate change and ways to combat it.
Abdul-Rahman is the NAACP Indiana Environmental & Climate Justice Chair.
"What is occurring is that as we put out greenhouse gases, or what are called CO2 or carbon pollution, into our atmosphere, it is warming the temperatures," she said, "and those temperatures are melting our glaciers and causing flooding."
"Also because the temperature is getting hotter, it's making us experience drought and hotter climate temperatures," she continued, "and it also has a way of creating what's called a Polar Vortex, which we're starting to see with weather patterns that are unusual than normal."
That's why in light of Earth Day on April 22nd, groups like the NAACP hope you'll look into ways to help preserve the planet.
"Come Earth Day, April 22nd, everybody turn off their lights for a substantial amount of time to save energy," she said, "That way your power company will not have to use greenhouse gases in order to energize your home."
Abdul-Rahman also suggests picking up trash in your community, along with planting trees as they release Oxygen into the air, as well as cutting down on transportation.
"You can walk and carpool, catch the bus because automobiles put out emissions that impact the climate," she said, "and we can be less wasteful because as we use waste, it gets burned in incinerators, and that goes into our atmosphere and impacts our ozone."

Maybe the NAACP should start to actually care about black folks and their safety instead of bowing and scraping to every Leftist pet issue.
It’s really getting cold. The NOAA had to adjust thermometer temperatures up 2.5 degrees to show warming.
It used to be adjusted down.
Compared to the concentration statistics in Table 1, the GWP comparison in Table 2 illustrates, among other things:
Total carbon dioxide (CO2) contributions are reduced to 72.37% of all greenhouse gases (368,400 / 509,056)-- (ignoring water vapor).
Also, from Table 2 (but not shown on graph):
Anthropogenic (man-made) CO2 contributions drop to (11,880 / 509,056) or 2.33% of total of all greenhouse gases, (ignoring water vapor).
Total combined anthropogenic greenhouse gases becomes (28,162 / 509,056) or 5.53% of all greenhouse gas contributions, (ignoring water vapor).
As illustrated in this chart of the data in Table 3, the combined greenhouse contributions of CO2, methane, N2O and misc. gases are small compared to water vapor!
Total atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) -- both man-made and natural-- is only about 3.62% of the overall greenhouse effect-- a big difference from the 72.37% figure in Table 2, which ignored water!
Water vapor, the most significant greenhouse gas, comes from natural sources and is responsible for roughly 95% of the greenhouse effect (5). Among climatologists this is common knowledge but among special interests, certain governmental groups, and news reporters this fact is under-emphasized or just ignored altogether.
Conceding that it might be "a little misleading" to leave water vapor out, they nonetheless defend the practice by stating that it is "customary" to do so!
When greenhouse contributions are listed by source, the relative overwhelming component of the natural greenhouse effect, is readily apparent.
From Table 4a, both natural and man-made greenhouse contributions are illustrated in this chart, in gray and green, respectively. For clarity only the man-made (anthropogenic) contributions are labeled on the chart.
Water vapor, responsible for 95% of Earth's greenhouse effect, is 99.999% natural (some argue, 100%). Even if we wanted to we can do nothing to change this.
Anthropogenic (man-made) CO2 contributions cause only about 0.117% of Earth's greenhouse effect, (factoring in water vapor). This is insignificant!
Adding up all anthropogenic greenhouse sources, the total human contribution to the greenhouse effect is around 0.28% (factoring in water vapor).
.04%
Lowlifes couldn’t find their own asses with both hands in a lit room.
roughly, humans are responsible for 3.7% of the atmospheric CO2 which amounts to just 0.04% of the aTMosphere!
Which means that man is responsible for CO2 in the atmosphere which amounts to just 0.0015% of the atmosphere
Golly- got to get to ‘zero emissions’ so that we can get that ‘whopping amount’ down to say 0.0010% of the atmosphere- then we can all breath easy knowing we just ‘saved the planet’
Folks- We aren’t producing nearly enough CO2 to create the mythical thick blanket of CO2 that climate alarmists are telling us is ‘trapping the earth’s heat and endangering us’- There is no thick blanket- because there is nowhere enough CO2 to create this mythical blanket-
There is at best a microscopically small thin ‘blanket’ that is insignificant when it comes to ‘trapping heat’- man’s CO2 is not causing the planet to heat up- There is only 0.0015% of the atmosphere that has CO2 in it because of us- Think about that-
yeah that article had some different figures from what I’ve seen- but it makes the point that our contribution is insignificant- see my latest post for how insignificant
There’s obviously too many humans on Earth. The climate worriers should do something about it by getting at the head of the line.
Good God. After reading such incoherent and fraudulent bovine excrement, I almost embarrassed for the NAACCP spokeswoman. What a Class A idiot!
Yep, complete BS from Algore’s fans!
Hope you’re all staying warm!
A bit chilly where you are? I suspect Algore is becoming a tad frosty AND grumpy since his Globalist, NWO GLOBALONEY WARMING SCAM is falling apart before his eyes. Not to worry about old Al. The $500 million or so he’s scammed over the years will allow him to stay snug - not to mention crazy - as the proverbial bedbug he’s become.
(Am I the only voter who believes that Trump has understood all that from the get go and why he pulled out of the Paris Accord and will hopefully renounce the Montreal & Kyoto Protocols?)
But enough about Algore and his cohort of would-be executioners of “climate deniers”.
Watch a few minutes of the video at the link if you want to fully grasp what’s coming for planet earth. You’ll see that it’s NOT caused by CO2 (which occurs AFTER the planet becomes warmer): That warming is caused by - surprise, surprise - that big ball of flaming gas you see when you look up. And, no, I’m not talking about the gaggle of politicians on Capitol Hill. We’re talking about the S.U.N. which is now settling into ANOTHER period of reduced activity called a “solar minimum”. Historically, those periods have ALWAYS resulted in a COOLING of the earth, many of which have brought about MASSIVE population reductions and the destruction of earlier civilizations.
So, stock up on the “stuff” you think you may need and get out those long johns because, as the old-timers up East used to say, “It’s gonna be a long, cold winter.” Think YEARS or DECADES!
There are some graphs starting around 3:30 that tell the story.

PS: Why have we NOT heard the INTERNATIONAL FAKE NEWSERS telling us about this? You suppose it’s because IT DOESN’T ADVANCE THEIR CO2 DEINDUSTRIALIZATION NEW WORLD ORDER AGENDA?
PPS: I’m taking wagers as to WHEN Algore and his fanatical fans will SWITCH the story over to the INCONVENIENT TRUTH of GLOBAL COOLING!
We’re entering a new Ice Age. Winter cold and snow records in the U.S. are being broken as I write.
Which means that every year the global-warming fanatics prove themselves to be more and more out of their minds.
Instead of worrying about polar bears in the Arctic losing their ice floes we should be worrying about the people of Minnesota being covered by permafrost if the pattern of colder and colder American winters continues.
Makes me think about one of the old arguments about R12 refrigerant that was destroying the stratosphere, even tho R12 is heavier than air.
I have no problem with not wasting electricity, planting more trees, and picking up trash. I’m even ok with riding a bike or bus if those are reasonable alternatives to driving.
But if this “climate justice” Shaquita from the NAACP thinks that these actions will “stop global warming”, this is prima facie evidence that she’s beyond stupid and ignorant.
“Climate justice”, yet another unbelievably stupid phrase made up by the left tards. LMAO
I also just saw an article which claimed that global warming is causing more volcanic erruptions LMAO.
it’s making gravity stronger too
Who are the judges in "climate justice" courts? This Shaquita from the NAACP?
My bad
I had been taught in school that folks in Africa gave us arithmetic the concept of zero and oth math ideas
Not only that, but the global warming Moonbats should advocate no animal life on the planet at all since we expel CO2. Betcha they dont know that their soda pop is energized with compressed CO2.
I wonder if she thinks God has something to do with the weather and God is not happy with the direction of society in the United States?
