Rep. Charlie Dent (Pa.), a frequent critic of President Trump and a leader of the GOPs moderate bloc in the House, said Tuesday that he will resign from Congress within weeks. His decision could set up a costly special election if the Democratic governor of Pennsylvania orders one.
Dent had already announced his retirement from Congress in September, citing personal reasons for the decision while also lamenting the marginalization of the governing wing of the Republican Party as the GOP has moved further to the right.
He said in a statement released Tuesday morning that he will leave in the coming weeks. He did not offer a reason for his decision to depart now rather than finish his term.

Retard.
Dent is a vile #NeverTrumper so anyone is an upgrade.
“Gop moderate bloc?”
Another name for the “obstructionists” in the Republican Party. These guys are “self deporting” from the Congress. A good thing.
Go on, get out you worthless piece of GOP ****.
Charlie’s one of a dozen or so powerful behind the scenes libs that have crippled the Republican Party in the House.
It’s no loss, even if a Dem takes the seat we come out ahead.
Huge loss. /
They get together and determine which person will be the easiest to defeat and to replace with a democrat. Then that person is told his or her future employment opportunities.
He is probably a sexual assaulter.
Getting out before his name drops.
Good riddance to this Never Trumper creep. Even a democrat would be an upgrade.
Hes starting a gig with LSD.
Good, buff that Dent out of Congress and elect a solid Conservative.
"...even if a Dem takes the seat, we come out ahead..."
I don’t say that often.
But for a few like Dent it’s true.
Does Dent fear Trumps retribution concerning the FISA abuse?
Note: Speaker Paul Ryan is a member of the Gang of 4 who has oversight of the FISA process. (Both he and the turtle, McConnell) Ryan has said he will not run again. Wonder if he fears prosecution himself. (he has always been a RINO traitor)
“Good, buff that Dent out of Congress and elect a solid Conservative.”
Although nice, but I don’t think that will ever happen. The district has become heavily hispanic (Puerto Ricans) for awhile now (before Hurricane). I think Dent is the best we can get. It will probably go Democrat especially after redistricting.
The Rats will get bragging rights in the event of a special election. Momentum? No. It’s bragging rights but they’ll call it momentum.
Is anyone keeping track of the number of members of Congress who are not returning - “for personal reasons”?
