Its a trap! Just a way to create 4 more Progressive Senators.
Yes and no.
I think there could be times when the southern one, could possibly vote contrary to the other two.
It starts basically at Orange County, I think.
Basically you are right, though. This could be why it has a chance of actually passing, I think.
The northern one might also have some degree of independence. Though San Francisco is in it, I think. So I think that one would still be very liberal.
Actually, if carried out and Jefferson (the state) exists....then it’ll be two GOP senators. And this southern state that they discuss....would include all of the SW, and San Diego....fairly high chances that at least one...maybe both senators...would be GOP.
If it happens, Texas will separate into several states...all Republican.
It might seem that way but this state gets real Red when you go 50 miles in from the coast. Extra senators will most likely be Republican.
Absolutely correct... using the proposed county groupings for NorCal, Cal, and SoCal in the initiative, and using the 2016 Presidential election results as a proxy of how each state would vote for a Senator, we would end up with 6 Kamala Harris type Progressives in the Senate. And while some are hoping that this measure might strip off some Electoral votes for the GOP candidate, that won't happen either - in fact the Dems would end up with 4 more EVs.
2016 Presidential Election results by proposed "3Cal Split":
Nor Cal: Clinton 3,402,343 - Trump 1,464,637
Cal: Clinton 2,934,624 - Trump 1,057,331
So Cal: Clinton 2,413,666 - Trump 1,957,594
It's a definite NO vote from me.
