Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley said Thursday Democrats are delaying a bill to protect special counsel Robert Mueller in the event that President Trump moved to fire him.

Mr. Grassley said he had wanted to put the bill, introduced this week, on the agenda Thursday, which would set it up for a vote next week. But top committee Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein objected, which Mr. Grassley said will delay getting it done.

I don’t know a lot about Grassley but I do know what snakes Graham, Sasse, and Flake are. Trump appears to be between a rock and a hard place but I have faith that he’s smarter than they are and will trap them in good time. They want him to fire Mueller and even though he has the power to do it he realizes what will happen if he does.

Doesn’t seem to be, it’s some kind of political maneuvering.

I don’t know what he needs to do but my gut tells me firing Mueller would not be the thing to do. I really hope that the FISA thing that Nunes is pursuing will end the Mueller investigation by proving there were no grounds for an investigation to start with. Trump has supporters and friends that I believe are fighting every way they can.

Sen. Grassley was very adept a getting the whole Russian collusion thing out of RINO Sen. Burr’s Intelligence Committee. That is what has allowed Congress to call the DOJ and FBI conduct into question to begin with. This SC protection has been in the works since October and slows the process of firing a SC rather than preventing it.

The Exeutive Branch appointed Mueller and can fire him as well. This is a manufactured “crisis.”

Yes, and Trump knows he can. He just feels like maybe he shouldn’t right now. I think he eventually will but I hope when he does he has all his ducks in a row. It shouldn’t be that way and it wouldn’t be with anybody else. They hate Trump and will do anything to trip him up.

Grassley blames Feinstein for delaying bill to protect Mueller

DiFi knows the anti-Trumpers in the Senate don't have the votes for this (GOPe snakes would vote for it in a heartbeat, but they're too afraid of the base blowback) - so she wants a delay to try to round up more support. Grassley ALSO knows the votes aren't there, and is shining a spotlight on who's responsible for the holdup.

Grassley is a canny old buzzard, and WAY more reliably supportive of the President than most in the Senate. He's not exactly a member of the base, but as close as they come in D.C.

Grassley is calling the dems bluff - he has been on point lately working on the intelligence reports on the FISA abuses.

Exactly.

This seems kinda silly but I think is in his own weird way Grassley is trying to help. I believe he fears Trump may pull the trigger on Mueller and that it could be the final straw.

The fact that DiFi is holding this up makes me feel this even more. Dems need the firing to set any obstruction charges off. Of course, its not obstruction but at that point its beyond a legal argument and fully political.

Trump must realize that this initiative is for public consumption. He needs to nip it in the bud by saying that Congress does not have the constitutional authority for such a bill. And he should let the Reps in Congress who vote for it know that they are on his sh#t list. He can do that in private.

Hopefully, GOP voters will let their representatives know where they stand on the issue.

I think if he fires Mueller he is in a worse position. If he talks to Mueller, he's in a worse position. Best to keep his head down and bomb an aspirin factory or something to take the media's attention off of his troubles. (That last part was my sarcasm leaking through).

If the FISA requests turn out to be ruled bogus because they were based on the fake dossier, then everything Mueller has done could be negated.

Trump is a smart guy but he has a lot of enemies and traitors chomping up his backside. The long knives are out.

I hope he has a plan to make this thing blow up in the democRATS faces.
