Moscow will shoot down any U.S. missiles fired at Syria and retaliate against American launch sites, the Russian ambassador to Lebanon has warned.

Ambassador Alexander Zasypkin made the comments on Tuesday while speaking on the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar TV channel, Reuters reported.

President Donald Trump is currently considering military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad following Saturday’s suspected chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Douma near the capital city of Damascus. Medical relief groups say the attack killed dozens of civilians.

If Russian soldiers die in these promised missile strikes then Russia may decide to hit the attacking fleet with a massive retaliatory strike.

And what does Russia have to conduct this 'massive retaliatory strike'?

And why didn't they use it in retaliation to our cruise missile strikes in 2017?

And they've blown through their small stock of smart weapons and have to use older unguided munitions.

Well then, there should be no problems at all, just go on in and slap those Russians around, show 'em who's boss. It'll only take a couple of weeks, and those Syrians will be cheering us like we're Gods.

This is all bluster on both parts. I bet Trump and Putin are having private talks.

Watch for a meeting face to face between the two soon. Both have too much at stake to blow it on Syria.

Kinda like Soyboy Obuttfkr did, after he drew all those “red lines” in the sand? Or was it after he organized and armed ISIS?

“And what does Russia have to conduct this ‘massive retaliatory strike’?”

If they lack conventional weapons then they still have other options, don’t they?

Sounds like a movie script.

"If he fires one, we'll fire one."

"Fire One, Aye."

From what I'm seeing it'll be 2017 all over again with several dozen cruise missiles, not a couple weeks.

And if the S-400 SAM doesn't perform as advertised, there go those sales to Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

A flaw in your logic there. Don’t forget all the missile launch sites in the midwest, Air Force bases such as Offutt, Malmstrom, Barksdale, and others.

That happens to be where a whole bunch of Trump-supporting Republicans live.

Do they? The Russians haven't conducted a nuclear test in almost 30 years.

And they're very expensive to keep up and the Russian military isn't swimming in rubles.

Even better, there should be absolutely no problems at all, just go on in and slap those Russians around, kick 'em in the balls, and show 'em who's boss. It'll only take a day, and all those Middle Easterners will be cheering us like we're Gods.

Why are we willing to gamble that the Russians won’t use nukes over Syria?

Why is Syria so damned important? Why aren’t you asking that question?

No flow :P

Sparsely populated areas, comparing to SF or Wash, DC or New York for that matter (I'm in NY :( ). Plus urban voters don't have good surviving skills.

Syria wasn't important until Obama drew that Red Line.

And the Russians have been nose to nose with US Special Forces for a couple years now in Syria and no nukes deployed.

Too much bedwetting around here.

I don’t think it’s really that risky.

Why is Syria so damned important?

What is good to realize is that Syria is considerably more important to Russia than to the US, so they will bid higher, likely all the way to global thermonuclear war.

A Russian retreat on Syria means increase of US pressure on Russia itself, all the way to break up of Russia. Thus, Putin retreating is not a likely option. A strike outside of the region that would lead to too fast an escalation is not likely either. Thus, in case of a US missile attack on Syria, retaliation will likely be done against US Navy And/Or bases in Syria (At Tanf) And/Or bases in nearby countries, like US bases in Romania or UK bases on Cyprus.

However, we may not have a GTW this time around, latest from Donald: White House comments on Syria - number of options besides missile strike

Even better yet, this makes it absolutely sure we can do anything we want and the Russians are absolutely helpless, heck we can post videos of us making Russian Soldiers beg for mercy on their knees while we poke 'em with sticks. We should send in the Troops right after the Tomahawks!
